Role :

This will be an IC role and will be at the forefront of architecture, design and implementation of Versa's high-performance forwarding software. You will join a highly experienced engineering team building packet and security service processing for Secure SD-WAN on current compute platforms. You will shape the datapath architecture, set best practices for multi-core, real-time network software, and work closely with Development, System Test, Product Line Management (PLM) and the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to deliver and support products at scale.

Responsibilities

- - Architect, design and develop software for real-time network applications on multi-core architectures.

- Own the design, development and maintenance of the NextGen Packet Forwarding and security features for SD-WAN platforms.

- Design and implement core SD-WAN datapath features, including QoS, NAT, application identification and path selection, optimized for high throughput and low latency on multi-core platforms.

- Define best practices,



coding guidelines and design standards for high-performance packet processing, and mentor mid-level engineers.

- Drive platform optimization: profile, benchmark and remove bottlenecks in throughput, latency, memory and CPU utilization.

- Work across Development, System Test, PLM and TAC teams to turn customer and product requirements into technical solutions.

- Lead root-cause analysis and timely resolution of critical customer escalations.

- Evaluate new compute platforms, NICs and hardware accelerators, and bring in new ideas for platform optimization.

Qualifications

- - Software development experience in networking or security, including significant time on datapath or forwarding software.

- Hands-on experience implementing SD-WAN datapath features such as QoS, NAT, application identification and path selection.

- Strong C programming skills (C++ a plus) in a Linux environment.

- Deep understanding of TCP/IP and advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies.

- Expertise in routing and switching and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and in branch and data center architectures.

- Hands-on experience with packet processing pipelines on multi-core systems.

- Strong understanding of performance benchmarks, with the ability to analyze them.

- Proven record of troubleshooting critical customer issues in a timely manner.
