Role Overview

GlobalGuard is building an emerging AI security and governance platform for organisations adopting modern AI technologies.

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Systems & Platform Engineer to help design and build the core runtime, endpoint and distributed platform capabilities of the product. This is not a traditional infrastructure or DevOps-only role. You will write production software, solve complex systems problems, work across operating systems, networking and cloud environments, and help turn recent security concepts into reliable commercial capabilities.

As an early engineer on the product, you will work closely with the Principal Engineer and have significant ownership over the design, implementation and operational quality of critical platform components.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement secure, reliable systems software for enterprise security use cases.
- Build production components that operate across endpoint, network, cloud and workload environments.
- Develop platform capabilities for observing, assessing and controlling interactions with modern AI technologies.
- Design efficient communication, configuration and policy-delivery mechanisms between distributed components and central services.
- Build secure identity, registration, health and lifecycle-management capabilities for deployed components.
- Develop telemetry, event-generation and diagnostic capabilities suitable for large enterprise environments.
- Investigate operating-system, networking and application-level mechanisms for solving emerging security problems.
- Build prototypes to validate technical approaches before committing to production designs.
- Optimise software for reliability,



performance, resilience and low operational overhead.
- Contribute to deployment, packaging, upgrade and recovery strategies.
- Work closely with security and backend engineers to define clean interfaces between runtime and management systems.
- Participate in design reviews, threat modelling, testing, troubleshooting and production support.
- Take ownership of technical problems through to practical resolution.

Experience and Qualifications

- Extensive commercial software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Robust experience developing systems, backend or platform software using Go, Rust, C/C++, Java or C#.




- Strong understanding of Linux/Windows and operating-system fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of networking, HTTP/S, DNS, TLS and modern application communication patterns.
- Experience building background services, agents, distributed clients or similar long-running software.
- Experience designing secure client-server and service-to-service communication.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, containers and orchestration platforms.
- Strong knowledge of authentication, authorisation and secure software design.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability and production operations.
- Strong debugging, profiling and performance-analysis skills.
- Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar technologies and rapidly turn research into practical prototypes.
- Practical understanding of modern AI applications and agentic architectures.

Highly Desirable Experience

- Commercial cybersecurity products or security platforms, especially highly regulated environments (NIST, Government, SOC, etc.).
- Endpoint, network, cloud or workload security.
- Security agents, observability agents or other distributed system software.
- Enterprise networking, secure access or data-protection technologies.
- Identity, access management and policy systems.
- Large-scale telemetry, analytics or event-processing platforms.
- Low-level operating-system telemetry, programmable proxies or service-mesh technologies.
- AI security, adversarial testing or emerging agent-security technologies.

This product operates in an emerging technology area where established design patterns do not always exist.

You should enjoy taking a difficult systems problem, researching available approaches, building prototypes, measuring results and turning the best approach into reliable production software.

You will be comfortable working across traditional boundaries between development, systems engineering, security and operations. You will take ownership without waiting for detailed implementation instructions and follow problems through from initial investigation to production operation.
