Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, ETL development, Azure data integration services, and Power BI reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in developing and optimizing complex SQL queries, building and maintaining ETL pipelines using SSIS and Azure Data Factory (ADF), and processing data using Azure Databricks.

The role requires advanced proficiency in Power BI and DAX, including the development of complex measures, calculated columns, calculated tables, KPIs, and time-intelligence calculations. The candidate should have a strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, data quality, and semantic model optimization.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting legacy SSIS solutions while contributing to modern, scalable, and secure cloud-based data engineering and analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Data Engineering and ETL Development

- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions in Microsoft SQL Server.
- Support, troubleshoot, and enhance existing SSIS packages and legacy ETL workflows.
- Implement scalable data integration and transformation solutions for enterprise analytics.
- Monitor pipeline execution, troubleshoot failures, and optimize data processing performance.

2. Data Warehousing and Data Modeling
- Design and maintain enterprise data warehouse solutions to support business intelligence and reporting requirements.
- Develop dimensional data models using star and snowflake schemas.
- Implement data integration, transformation, cleansing,



and validation processes.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability across source systems and reporting layers.
- Document data models, technical designs, data flows, and implementation processes.

3. Power BI and Advanced DAX Development
- Develop, publish, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and executive-level visualizations.
- Create complex DAX measures, calculated columns, calculated tables, KPIs, and time-intelligence calculations.
- Design and optimize Power BI semantic models, relationships, hierarchies, and datasets.
- Apply advanced DAX optimization techniques to improve query execution and report performance.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and appropriate data access controls.
- Troubleshoot Power BI refresh issues, dataset performance, and report rendering bottlenecks.
- Translate business requirements into actionable insights and effective analytical solutions.

4. Azure and Microsoft Technology Stack
- Develop and manage cloud-based data integration solutions using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
- Integrate data from multiple sources into enterprise reporting and analytics platforms.
- Collaborate on scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipeline architecture.
- Work with relevant Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, and Azure services.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives involving legacy data platforms and contemporary cloud analytics technologies.

5. Collaboration and Technical Documentation
- Collaborate with BI developers, data analysts, architects, and business stakeholders.




- Gather and translate business requirements into technical data engineering and reporting solutions.
- Conduct data validation, testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Maintain technical documentation and follow established development and governance standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- 8–12 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, SQL development, ETL, and business intelligence.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and advanced T-SQL programming.
- Extensive experience in SSIS package development, maintenance, debugging, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory for data integration and pipeline orchestration.
- Practical experience with Azure Databricks for data processing and integration.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, star schema, and snowflake schema.
- Proficiency in Power BI dashboard development, reporting, and data visualization.
- Advanced hands-on experience with DAX, including complex measures, calculated columns, calculated tables, KPIs, and time-intelligence functions.
- Experience in Power BI semantic modeling, dataset optimization, row-level security, and refresh management.
- Strong knowledge of data cleansing, quality checks, validation, reconciliation, and auditing.
- Experience with the Microsoft data and analytics ecosystem, including SSRS and SSAS.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work with legacy ETL solutions while supporting modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with Power BI Premium and Microsoft Fabric environments.
- Knowledge of SSAS Tabular models and advanced semantic modeling.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and modern cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Experience with enterprise-scale reporting and executive dashboards.
- Microsoft Azure, Power BI, or relevant Microsoft technology certifications.
