QA - SDET – SaaS Product Engineering - Please read these requirements carefully before applying.
Location: Pune, India (Remote)
Experience: 5+ years total in software development or test automation role
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Rotating 24/7 on-call coverage
About This Opportunity
Not every QA engineer is an SDET. We’re looking for someone who knows the difference. At KIBO, we operate a sophisticated, enterprise-grade SaaS commerce platform supporting global brands and mission-critical business operations.
When code goes to production, we need someone exceptional ensuring its quality, resilience, and scale. We are looking for a technically strong, hands-on Senior QA SDET who understands modern cloud-native architectures, earns the respect of backend and frontend developers, and can design, build, and maintain robust automated test frameworks from scratch.
This is a high-ownership role where your technical depth, automation skills, API mastery, and commitment to quality directly affect our platform's reliability and our customers' success. You won’t just be manually clicking through test cases; you will be writing clean code, engineering test contexts using AI tools, validating microservices, and driving continuous quality across our deployment pipelines.
We have high expectations for this position. We’re looking for proven automation experience and architectural testing depth, not just familiarity with testing terminology.

What You'll Do
Architect & Own Automation Frameworks:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks for backend REST/GraphQL APIs and frontend UI components using modern tools (Playwright, Cypress, Jest, RestAssured, or TypeScript/Java/Python).
- Integrate test automation seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps) to enable automated quality gates for every pull request and release.
Drive API & Microservice Quality:
- Perform deep API-level testing, validating contract adherence, payload structures, status codes, error handling, and data consistency across decoupled microservices.
- Validate asynchronous, event-driven workflows (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS) to ensure message ordering, idempotency, retry mechanisms, and schema validation under distributed failures.
Leverage AI-Native Testing Workflows:
- Systematically direct AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to generate test cases, stub mock data, optimize assertion logic, and accelerate test coverage.
- Maintain human review gates over AI-generated test scripts to ensure compliance with Kibo's architectural standards, security requirements, and edge-case validation.
Perform Performance & Scale Validation:
- Design and execute performance, load, and stress test scenarios (using JMeter, k6, or Gatling) to simulate peak-season transaction volumes, order surges, and concurrent API traffic.
- Identify system bottlenecks across API, database (MySQL/MongoDB), caching (Redis), and network layers in collaboration with backend and SRE teams.
Defect Root Cause Analysis & Quality Leadership:
- Proactively identify, isolate, document, and track complex defects to root cause using log analysis (Splunk, Grafana) and database queries.
- Participate actively in Agile sprint ceremonies, providing early input on feature specifications, acceptance criteria, testability, and risk analysis.
