OBSv2 to AWS S3 Migration Platform Engineer

Role Purpose :

Lead the design, build, and operation of a secure, scalable migration platform to move object data from OBSv2 to

AWS S3. The role focuses on reliable execution, automation, governance, monitoring, and production support for large-scale enterprise data migration.

Key Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end migration workflow from OBSv2 to AWS S3.
- Build and operate AWS orchestration using Step Functions, Lambda, Fargate, AWS Batch, DynamoDB, SQS and rclone.
- Support manifest and dynamic migration approaches including batching, sharding, task sizing and retries.
- Implement governance for bandwidth allocation, queue management, prioritization, throttling and tracking.
- Build observability using CloudWatch dashboards, metrics, logs and alerts.
- Support secure multi-account deployment, IAM controls, testing and production cutover.

Expected Deliverables

- Production-ready migration orchestration platform.
- Governance for bandwidth control, queue processing and completion reporting.
- Reusable rclone runtime with progress reporting and throttling.
- DynamoDB-based state management.
- CloudWatch dashboards, alarms, runbooks and deployment automation.

Preferred Experience

- Dell ECS,



OBSv2 or S3-compatible storage experience.
- Enterprise-scale migration delivery experience.
- Multi-account AWS hub-and-spoke environments.
- Technical documentation and executive reporting skills.

Mandatory Technical Skills

- AWS Serverless: Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, SSM Parameter Store,

Secrets Manager.
- AWS Compute & Containers: ECS Fargate, AWS Batch, container task definitions, sidecar patterns, resource

sizing and runtime configuration.
- AWS Storage: Amazon S3, Intelligent-Tiering, S3 APIs, metadata, prefixes, transfers and lifecycle management.
- Object Storage Migration: Migration experience from Dell ECS/OBSv2 and other S3-compatible platforms to AWS

S3.
- rclone: High-volume transfers, retries, validation, logging, statistics and bandwidth limiting.
- Python Development: boto3, JSON processing, exception handling, logging, dataclasses, streaming and API

integration.
- DynamoDB: Table design, indexes, scans, updates, batch writes and state-management patterns.
- Networking: Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, VPCs, private subnets, routing, endpoints and NAT gateway

design.
- IAM & Security: Roles, cross-account access, STS AssumeRole, Secrets Manager and least-privilege design.
- Observability: CloudWatch metrics, logs, alarms, dashboards and migration reporting.
- CI/CD & Deployment: GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, environment configuration and deployment automation.

Know-How Skills & Domain Understanding

- Large-scale object storage migration patterns, manifests, partitioning and validation.
- Performance optimization across compute, storage and network resources.
- Bandwidth allocation, throttling,



queue handling and retries.
- Strong operational discipline, monitoring and runbooks.
- Maintain architecture documentation, implementation details and support procedures.
