Team Lead and Architect - FE Digital Control

Vacancy: At L&T; EPS Industrial R&D; - Bengaluru

Position Responsibilities This role is to lead Firmware development for power converters Design, which essentially includes Firmware architecture development as a modular and scalable firmware platform for projects executed within L&T; EPS Industrial R&D; or in collaboration with its co-partners in various types of Power electronics products development. This role demonstrates excellent technical expertise and should take higher accountability in overall product development/adaptation covering with focus on firmware and demonstrating the adherence to the various global standards for different types of chargers for e-mobility applications.

Key responsibilities include

1. Mentoring firmware team and establishing processes for firmware development, release, and version tracking.
2. Adhering to L&T; process and contributing to the development of L&T; process specific to power electronics product firmware development.
3. Ability to work with cross-functional teams including product management and customer-facing teams is a must.
4. A good understanding of the application and the applicable global standards for e-mobility subsystems is very important.

Key Activities

1. Accountable and owner of technical decisions during firmware development.
2. Write and own the firmware requirements document.
3. Evaluate and suggest suitable Architecture which is modular and scalable that can be reused across L&T; products.

Use technical capability and significant problem-solving analysis to establish the most effective solution for complex problems.
5. Work as an interface between hardware, manufacturing, testing, and firmware teams and influence technical decisions.
6. Analyze and identify the root cause(s) of problems and develop alternatives to solve these problems.
7. A valuable knowledge of digital control of power converters, state machine, communication protocols like CAN, SPI, UART & USB at driver and application layer is a must.
8. Lead the technical review meetings.
9. Make significant technical contributions essential to the successful completion of projects.
10. Focus on automation of testing and guide the validation/manufacturing team in automating tests.
11. Work with Semiconductor companies to select the most optimum/best fit for controllers & Digital ICs for the products.
12. Perform "Gap Analysis" and arrive at current solutions, tools, processes, and automations to reduce costs where applicable for firmware development.
13. Demonstrating role model behavior in technical excellence, motivating the team towards innovation and IP creation.
14. Imbibe and role model L&T; behaviors and value systems.
15. Be a part of the key firmware technical expert pool within L&T.;

Basic Candidate Qualifications

1.



BE/BTech/MTech/PhD in Power Electronics or Electronics & Communication Engineering / Embedded systems or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 12 years of overall end-to-end hands-on design experience and expertise in developing firmware for power electronics products.

Skills Requirement

1. Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience in multiple controller platforms, like TI, Micro-chip/STM, etc.
2. Define the architecture and maintain documentation flow for various projects.
3. Design test plans for manufacturing.
4. Assist manufacturing automation teams in implementing the test plans in ATE.
5. Good understanding of basic protocols like UART, CAN, SPI, I2C, etc.
6. Good experience with Graphical LCD interface.
7. Understanding of digital circuits for controller interface, like ADC scaling, Opmaps, Multiplexers, etc.
8. Thorough knowledge of firmware development using embedded C/RTOS.
9. Good knowledge of digital control of power converters and communication protocols is a must.
10. Good knowledge and understanding of IoT and cloud connectivity is a must-have.
11. Experience in meeting coding standards like MISRA, Autosar are desirable skills.
