Instrumentation Site Engineer – Fire & Gas (F&G;)

We are looking for an experienced Instrumentation Site Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant site experience, having robust hands-on knowledge of Fire & Gas (F&G;) field devices, installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.

The candidate must have practical experience in handling F&G; devices and instrumentation activities at industrial project sites. Experience with Honeywell F&G; systems and devices will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. F&G; Site Installation

- Supervise and execute installation of Fire & Gas field instruments/devices as per approved drawings and project specifications.
- Handle installation of:
- Gas Detectors
- Flame Detectors
- Smoke Detectors
- Heat Detectors
- Manual Call Points
- Sounders
- Beacons
- Fire & Gas Alarm Devices
- F&G; Junction Boxes
- F&G; I/O Modules
- Associated cabling and accessories
- Verify proper installation, orientation, mounting height and location of F&G; detectors.
- Ensure correct cable routing, glanding, termination, tagging and dressing.
- Coordinate with electrical, civil, piping and other disciplines for F&G; device installation.

2. Honeywell F&G; Systems

- Candidates with hands-on experience in Honeywell F&G; systems/devices will be preferred.
- Experience in installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of Honeywell F&G; equipment will be an added advantage.
- Understand F&G; system architecture, field devices, I/O and panel interfaces.
- Coordinate with Honeywell/system vendors during testing and commissioning activities.

3. Testing & Commissioning

- Carry out pre-commissioning, testing and commissioning of F&G; field devices.
- Perform:
- Continuity checks
- Insulation resistance checks
- Point-to-point checks
- Loop checking
- Functional testing
- Detector testing
- Alarm testing
- Cause & Effect testing
- Interlock testing




- Coordinate with commissioning engineers and client representatives during F&G; testing.
- Troubleshoot field device, cable, termination, loop and communication-related problems.
- Ensure all F&G; devices are tested and commissioned as per approved procedures.

4. Drawings & Technical Documents The candidate should be able to read and understand:

- F&G; Detector Layouts
- F&G; Cause & Effect Matrix

- Junction Box Drawings
- Hook-up Drawings

- Check site installation against approved drawings and specifications.
- Identify drawing discrepancies and coordinate with engineering for resolution.
- Maintain red-line/as-built information.

5. Site Supervision & Coordination

- Supervise instrumentation subcontractors, technicians and workmen.
- Allocate daily work activities and monitor site progress.
- Ensure installation work is completed as per project schedule.
- Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, commissioning and HSE teams.
- Attend site meetings and provide daily/weekly progress updates.
- Monitor manpower, materials and tools required for F&G; activities.
- Follow up on material availability and site constraints.

6. QA/QC & Documentation

- Ensure F&G; installation complies with approved method statements, ITPs, specifications and drawings.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection of installed F&G; devices.
- Prepare/review:
- Inspection Requests
- Installation Checklists
- Loop Check Sheets
- Calibration/Test Reports
- Functional Test Reports
- Commissioning Records
- Punch Lists
- As-Built Documentation
- Ensure timely closure of QA/QC and commissioning punch points.

7. Safety & Hazardous Area

- Ensure all instrumentation and F&G; installation activities are performed safely.
- Follow project HSE procedures and permit-to-work requirements.




- Ensure proper installation of equipment in hazardous areas.
- Verify correct use of Ex-rated equipment, glands, junction boxes and accessories.
- Ensure compliance with applicable project and hazardous-area requirements.
- Stop unsafe work and report safety concerns to the concerned supervisor/HSE team.

Preferred Experience

Strong preference will be given to candidates who have:

- Minimum 5 years of site-based Instrumentation experience.
- Strong core experience in F&G; field devices.
- Hands-on experience with Honeywell F&G; systems/devices.
- Experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical or Chemical projects.
- Experience in F&G; installation, testing and commissioning.
- Experience in Cause & Effect testing.
- Experience coordinating with clients, consultants and system vendors.
- Good troubleshooting and site coordination skills.

Education

- B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation / Electronics & Instrumentation / Electrical & Instrumentation
- OR
- Diploma in Instrumentation / Electronics & Instrumentation / E&I; with relevant site experience.
