Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Production Head to manage end-to-end production of women’s ethnic wear, from fabric processing and dyeing to embroidery, handwork, stitching, finishing and final dispatch.
The candidate must be a strong shop-floor leader with proven expertise in production planning, batching, manpower utilisation, interdepartmental coordination, quality control and timely order execution.
The objective is to improve production efficiency, reduce bottlenecks and rework, control work-in-progress, and ensure all customer orders are completed within committed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning and Control
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on order priorities and dispatch commitments.
- Plan style-wise and order-wise batching, ensuring optimal utilisation of machines, workers and processing capacity.
- Monitor production against targets at every stage and take corrective action on delays.
- Coordinate fabric availability, trims, sampling approvals and production readiness before releasing batches.
- Maintain an updated production tracking system for every order and style.
- Management of Production Verticals
- Supervise and coordinate dyeing, machine embroidery, hand embroidery, adda work, other manual processes, stitching, checking, finishing, pressing, packing and dispatch.
- Ensure smooth movement of garments and materials between departments.
- Identify bottlenecks and prevent unnecessary waiting,
excess work-in-progress and accumulation of unfinished garments.
- Manage internal and outsourced processing wherever applicable.
- Manpower and Floor Efficiency
- Allocate workers according to skill, workload, production targets and style complexity.
- Establish measurable hourly and daily output targets for each department.
- Monitor worker productivity, attendance, utilisation and output per person.
- Identify underperforming processes and implement corrective measures.
- Build accountability among supervisors and departmental in-charges.
- Quality and Cost Control
- Reduce alterations, defects, rejection, wastage and rework.
- Ensure quality checks at critical stages rather than waiting until final inspection.
- Monitor fabric consumption, workmanship and avoidable production costs.
- Ensure production targets do not compromise garment quality.
- Dispatch and Delivery Commitments
- Maintain a clear style-wise dispatch plan and daily pending-order report.
- Flag potential delays in advance and implement recovery plans.
- Coordinate with checking, finishing, packing and dispatch teams to ensure finished goods leave on time.
- Take ownership of pending orders and ensure clear responsibility for every delay.
- Reporting and Accountability
- Submit daily production reports covering planned versus actual output, pending quantities, bottlenecks, rework and dispatch status.
- Conduct regular production review meetings with departmental supervisors.
- Maintain production MIS and use data to improve efficiency.
- Report directly to management and provide clear, fact-based updates on production performance.
Candidate Requirements
- Robust experience in women’s ethnic wear, including suits, kurtis, festive wear and embellished garments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple production processes simultaneously.
- Practical knowledge of production planning, batching, capacity planning and work-in-progress control.
- Proven experience managing supervisors, skilled artisans, tailors and floor workers.
- Strong problem-solving, discipline, follow-up and execution capabilities.
- Comfortable using Excel and production MIS systems.
- A hands-on, target-oriented leader who spends time on the production floor and takes ownership of results.
Performance Expectations The candidate will be assessed on:
- On-time production completion and dispatch performance.
- Achievement of planned output across all departments.
- Manpower productivity and utilisation.
- Reduction in rework, wastage and production bottlenecks.
- Control of work-in-progress and ageing pending orders.
- Quality consistency and overall production cost efficiency.
Important: We are looking for a production leader who can independently run the manufacturing floor, build accountability among teams and deliver measurable improvements in output and timely dispatch.
