Position overview

We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Data Governance Consultant to work alongside the Principal Enterprise Data Governance Architect in designing, documenting, validating, and operationalizing a reusable enterprise data governance framework.

The consultant will help translate architectural direction and stakeholder requirements into structured governance standards, operating procedures, conceptual models, assessments, and implementation plans.

The role requires a strong foundation in enterprise data management and governance, analytical thinking, the ability to work across multiple domains, and the communication skills necessary to engage with business and technology stakeholders.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the US-based lead while maintaining sufficient independence to own defined workstreams and produce high-quality deliverables.

Key responsibilities

1. Governance framework development

- Support the design and documentation of enterprise data governance principles, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Translate business and technology requirements into reusable governance capabilities.
- Document governance roles, ownership models, responsibilities, decision rights, and approval workflows.
- Develop templates and repeatable processes for data onboarding, governance reviews, exception handling, and ongoing compliance.
- Maintain consistency between the governance framework, enterprise architecture, and implementation roadmap.

2. Data stewardship and metadata management

- Develop data stewardship models, including ownership matrices, responsibility assignments, and domain engagement procedures.
- Document standards for data inventories, business and technical metadata, data lineage, and authoritative sources.
- Support the definition of systems-of-record principles and data registration processes.
- Help develop reusable data-domain onboarding templates and governance checklists.
- Analyze how common governance requirements can be applied to finance, HR, technology, analytics,

and other domains.

3. Access governance and data certification

- Help define data classification levels, access policies, and approval workflows.
- Document role-based access control and attribute-based access control requirements.
- Develop procedures for access reviews, periodic recertification, exceptions, and removal of access.
- Define data certification workflows, review criteria, ownership, evidence requirements, and renewal frequency.
- Coordinate requirements with identity, security, privacy, and risk stakeholders.

4. Governance tooling and capability assessment

- Analyze existing governance platforms, metadata tools, identity capabilities, and data management processes.
- Support functional assessments of commercial platforms and existing enterprise technology investments.
- Prepare capability comparison matrices, gap assessments, and build-versus-buy analysis.
- Document integration requirements, functional dependencies, and potential implementation constraints.
- Support the evaluation of tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, Okta, or equivalent platforms where relevant.

5. Stakeholder workshops and requirements analysis

- Participate in discovery workshops and interviews with enterprise data owners and technology stakeholders.
- Capture requirements, current-state processes, pain points, and governance gaps.
- Translate findings into structured requirements, process diagrams, governance matrices, and recommendations.
- Validate draft standards with the principal architect and relevant stakeholders.
- Support cross-time-zone collaboration and maintain regular working overlap with US-based teams.

6. Documentation, analysis, and implementation planning

- Produce governance playbooks, policy documents, RACI matrices, process flows, and architecture-support documentation.
- Maintain decision logs, assumptions, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items.
- Help define governance KPIs, certification metrics, access compliance measures, and adoption reporting.

- Contribute to the pilot validation of governance processes across a representative domain.
- Support the creation of phased implementation plans, effort estimates, and recommendations for future delivery.

Required qualifications

- 812 years of experience in data management, data governance, data architecture, information management, or related disciplines.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise data governance or data management initiatives.
- Strong understanding of data ownership, stewardship, metadata, data quality, lineage, classification, and governance processes.
- Experience documenting policies, standards, operating models, workflows, and governance requirements.
- Familiarity with access governance, identity and access management concepts, and periodic access reviews.
- Experience with data catalogs, governance platforms, master data management, or metadata management tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned workstreams and collaborate effectively with senior architects.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams and overlapping US business hours.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar data governance solutions.
- Familiarity with Okta, RBAC, ABAC, and enterprise access governance.
- Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, data lakehouses, APIs, and distributed data architectures.
- Experience in enterprise environments involving multiple data domains and business functions.
- Data management or governance certifications are advantageous.

Expected deliverables

1. Governance requirements and current-state assessment documentation.
2. Data ownership, stewardship, and responsibility matrices.
3. Data classification, access control, and certification process documentation.
4. Data catalog, metadata, and systems-of-record standards.
5. Governance tooling evaluation and capability comparison matrices.
