What would you be doing?

The Head – LMD & Transportation will lead the end-to-end transportation and last-mile delivery network for bigbasket across India, ensuring efficient, cost-effective and reliable movement of products across the supply chain.

The role will oversee transportation from Collection Centres to Distribution Centres (DCs), DCs to Dark Stores, and last-mile delivery from Dark Stores to customers. The leader will be responsible for network strategy, operational excellence, cost optimisation, fleet productivity, delivery service levels and scalable logistics solutions across bigbasket’s grocery, fresh retail and quick-commerce businesses.

The ideal candidate will bring solid expertise in large-scale logistics and transportation operations,



with a proven track record of driving operational efficiency, managing complex delivery networks and building high-performing teams in a dynamic, high-frequency business environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Transportation & Network Strategy

- Lead first-mile, inter-facility and last-mile transportation strategy across India.
- Optimise network design, routes, fleet mix and capacity to improve efficiency and scalability.

2. Last-Mile Delivery Operations

- Ensure timely and reliable customer deliveries across markets.
- Drive rider productivity, delivery success rates and workforce utilisation.

3. Cost Optimisation & Financial Performance

- Own transportation budgets and drive improvements in cost per order and overall logistics costs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through fleet utilisation, route optimisation and vendor negotiations.

4. Operational Excellence & Service Delivery

- Establish SOPs and ensure service quality, safety and regulatory compliance.
- Improve operational processes and ensure efficient handling of grocery and fresh products.

5. Performance Management & Analytics

- Track key KPIs, including on-time delivery, cost per order, rider productivity and vehicle utilisation.
- Use data and dashboards to identify gaps and drive performance improvements.

6. Partner & Vendor Management





- Manage transportation vendors and delivery partners, ensuring cost efficiency and service-level adherence.
- Drive vendor performance through structured reviews and commercial negotiations.

7. Technology & Continuous Improvement

- Partner with Technology and Product teams to improve route optimisation, tracking and delivery efficiency.
- Drive automation and technology-led process improvements.

8. Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership

- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Technology, Finance and HR to achieve business objectives.
- Lead national teams, driving workforce planning, capability development and a culture of accountability.

Who are we looking for?

- 14-18 years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, Quick Commerce, E-commerce, or Retail.
- Strong experience managing transportation networks and last-mile delivery operations.
- Proven track record in cost optimisation, fleet productivity and service-level improvement.
- Experience managing large teams, vendors and multi-city operations.
- Strong analytical, strategic and stakeholder management skills.
- MBA/PGDM from Tier 1 /Tier 2 preferred.
- Experience in e-commerce, quick commerce is strongly preferred.
