Job Title: Enterprise NOC Engineer – ISP & Managed Network Services
Experience: 3–5 years
Department: Enterprise Network Operations
Shift: 24x7 rotational shifts
Reporting To: Enterprise NOC Manager / Shift Lead
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Enterprise NOC Engineer to monitor, troubleshoot, and support enterprise connectivity services across a large-scale ISP network.
You will work on business-critical services such as Internet Leased Lines, Point-to-Point connectivity, Layer 2 circuits, MPLS-VPN, and managed SD-WAN. The role requires strong network troubleshooting skills, transparent customer communication, and close coordination with field teams, service providers, and technical support teams to restore services efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor enterprise network services through NMS and monitoring tools for link-down alarms, packet loss, latency, jitter, interface errors, and device-health alerts.
- Troubleshoot Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 connectivity issues across customer-premises equipment, provider-edge routers, optical links, and SD-WAN appliances.
- Perform initial fault isolation using ping, traceroute, interface checks, log analysis, optical diagnostics, and loopback testing.
- Investigate routing and switching issues involving BGP, OSPF, static routing, VLANs, QinQ, and MPLS-VPN services.
- Coordinate with internal transmission, field-maintenance, and provisioning teams for fiber faults, physical-link issues, and on-site troubleshooting.
- Liaise with external service providers, OEM support teams, and hardware vendors when escalation or replacement support is required.
- Perform and validate circuit testing during provisioning, restoration, and service handover, including loopback, throughput, latency, jitter, frame-loss, and MTU checks.
- Support RFC 2544 and ITU-T Y.1564 testing where required for enterprise circuit acceptance.
- Create, update, and manage incident tickets with complete diagnostic details, circuit information, actions taken, and restoration updates.
- Provide timely, professional outage communication and service updates to enterprise customer IT teams.
- Assist in preparing incident summaries, RCA inputs, and service-performance reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation for circuits, network topology, escalations, and operational handovers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in an ISP, telecom, enterprise NOC, managed-services provider, or carrier-network environment.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet switching, IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, VLANs, QinQ, and basic MPLS-VPN concepts.
- Working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, static routing, and core network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Internet Leased Lines, P2P links, Layer 2 circuits, MPLS-VPN, and/or managed SD-WAN services.
- Experience with network-monitoring tools,
ticketing systems, and incident-management processes.
- Familiarity with router, switch, firewall, or SD-WAN CLI environments from leading network-equipment vendors.
- Basic understanding of optical connectivity, SFP/transceiver diagnostics, optical power levels, and fiber-fault coordination.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly during customer-impacting incidents.
- Willingness to work in 24x7 rotational shifts.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunications, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with tools such as PRTG, SolarWinds, SevOne, Zabbix, or equivalent monitoring platforms.
- Exposure to RFC 2544, ITU-T Y.1564, OTDR testing, or enterprise circuit-acceptance testing.
- Experience supporting SD-WAN, firewall, or managed security services.
- CCNA, JNCIA, or similar networking certification.
What Success Looks Like
- Prompt identification and ownership of enterprise network incidents.
- Accurate troubleshooting and effective escalation to the appropriate support teams.
- Clear, consistent communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Reliable documentation, ticket hygiene, and contribution to timely service restoration.
- Smooth handover of restored or newly commissioned services to operational teams.
If you enjoy solving complex connectivity issues and supporting enterprise customers in a fast-paced network-operations environment, we’d like to hear from you.
