About MARS:

MARS Cosmetics is an Indian colour cosmetics brand sold through online marketplaces, modern trade, distributors, our exclusive brand outlets, and our own website. We're building an in-house team to automate how the company runs, from orders and inventory to reporting and customer communication.

The role:

You'll lead our Automation & AI team (currently four engineers, growing to six) and own how our business systems talk to each other. That means connecting marketplaces, ERP, store POS, distributor systems, payments, and ad platforms, and using AI agents where they genuinely help. You'll report directly to the Director.

What you'll do:

- Design and own the architecture: integrations, background jobs, data flows, and where AI fits.
- Build the first high-impact systems yourself, e.g. marketplace order and inventory sync, payment and returns reconciliation, automated reporting.
- Set engineering standards: code review, testing, monitoring, documentation, and security of customer and financial data.
- Work with heads of sales, supply chain, marketing,



and finance to turn messy processes into clear, measurable projects.
- Mentor the team and help hire as it grows.

What we're looking for:

- 5–7 years of backend engineering, with end-to-end ownership of at least two production systems: you designed, built, deployed, monitored, and fixed them.
- Strong experience integrating third-party APIs, webhooks, queues, and data sync, including handling failures, retries, and duplicates.
- TypeScript/Node.js proficiency (Python is a plus); PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience guiding or reviewing other engineers' work.
- Daily, critical use of AI coding tools.
- Comfort explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical leaders.

Positive to have:

- Background in e-commerce, D2C, fintech, or logistics.
- Production experience with LLMs or AI agents.
- Experience with ERP, POS, or marketplace integrations.
