About Netport Systems

Netport Systems Private Limited designs, builds and supplies industrial computing and embedded systems for demanding environments across manufacturing, automation, transportation, defence, telecom and edge-computing applications. Headquartered in Bengaluru with group operations spanning India, Singapore and Taiwan, we combine engineering depth with a hands-on, founder-led culture.

Our range covers industrial and embedded boards, box and panel PCs, rugged and railway-grade edge computers, network appliances and rack and GPU servers including Acteck, the group's own OEM brand sold to OEMs, system integrators and end users in India and exported to the United States.

We are in an active growth phase: expanding from a 15-person team to over 40, formalising processes, pursuing ISO 9001 certification and building a professional management layer under the founders. Every role described here is being created as part of that build.

Purpose of the role

Netport does not fabricate its own boards. What we sell is decided by how well we understand a customer's requirement, develop the right hardware with a vendor at the right cost, and get that product qualified and approved at the customer and that is the heart of this role. Around sixty per cent of your time will go to this loop: sitting with the customer to capture the specification, finding the vendor and platform that meet it economically, driving the design and sample cycle, and then running the customer's qualification samples, trials, test reports, design changes until the product is approved and in volume.

The remaining time is split between technical support to customers and the sales team, and leading the production and quality team of eight to ten people who assemble, test and ship every system. It suits an engineer who knows industrial computing products deeply chipsets, boards, thermals, power, I/O, storage and memory who can hold a vendor to a specification and a price, who is comfortable in a customer's lab and test bay, and who can raise the standard of a small production floor.

Key responsibilities A . Customer Development, Product Development And Qualification ~ 60%

Work directly with customers and sales to capture the requirement and turn it into a clear technical specification performance, I/O, form factor, thermal and power envelope, environmental rating, certification, acceptance criteria and target cost.

Identify, evaluate and develop vendors in Taiwan, China and India ODMs, board makers, chassis, power supply,

thermal, storage and memory suppliers against specification, quality, cost and lead time; build and maintain an approved vendor list.

Drive the design and sample cycle with the vendor: schematic and layout review, mechanical and thermal review, BIOS/EC customisation, BOM alternates, DFM/DFT feedback and engineering change control.

Qualify the product internally functional, thermal, burn-in, compatibility, environmental and EMC/safety testing write the test plans and reports, and sign off first articles before release to production.

Own qualification at the customer: submit samples, support the customer's evaluation and trials on site, answer their engineering queries, close design changes with the vendor, and drive the approval through to volume orders.

Negotiate technical trade-offs with the customer and the vendor that hit the target cost without compromising the specification; own the technical side of costed BOMs and landed-cost comparisons with procurement.

Manage the product lifecycle component EOL, last-time buys, second sources and revision control — and maintain datasheets, user manuals and the technical product database for Netport and Acteck products.

— Visit customers across India for qualification and trials, and vendors in Taiwan and China for audits, sample reviews and production ramp.

B . Customer Technical Support ~ 2 0 %

— Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to customers, sales and partners: configuration and BOM recommendations, compatibility and thermal checks, custom-requirement feasibility and pricing inputs.

— Reproduce, isolate and root-cause field issues — boot failures, thermal throttling, EMI/ESD, power sequencing, peripheral compatibility — and escalate to vendors with clear test data; own failure analysis, 8D/CAPA reports and RMA coordination with vendors.

— Support demos, evaluations and proofs of concept; visit customer sites when required.

C . Production And Quality Leadership ~ 2 0 %

— Lead the production and quality team of eight to ten — Production Manager,

assemblers and QC inspectors — and plan builds against the order book with the Operations Manager.

— Define and enforce assembly work instructions, incoming and outgoing inspection, burn-in and pre-shipment test, ESD handling and serial traceability; track first-pass yield, rework and escapes and drive corrective action.

— Own production and quality records for ISO 9001; train the team on current products as they are released.

What we are looking for

Essential

— BE/BTech in electronics, electrical or computer engineering.

— 5 – 8 years in hardware or product design engineering with industrial PCs, embedded boards, servers or network appliances — with an ODM/ OEM, a systems company or a distributor's engineering team.

— Deep product knowledge: Intel and AMD platforms, ARM SoCs, COM Express/SMARC modules, chipsets, memory, storage, power supplies, thermals and I/O — and the ability to judge a vendor's design on its merits.

— Proven record of developing products with vendors in Taiwan or China and getting them qualified at OEM or system-integrator customers — specification, samples, trials, approval, volume.

— Hands-on bench skills: schematic reading, board bring-up, BIOS/UEFI, Linux and Windows, oscilloscope, multimeter and thermal tools.

— Experience supervising technicians or a small production/test team.

— Fluent English and clear written specifications and reports; Kannada or Hindi for the shop floor.

Preferred

— Experience with EN 50155, MIL-STD, IEC 60945 or similar rugged and environmental standards; EMC/ safety certification (CE, FCC, BIS, UL).

— Mechanical and thermal design exposure — chassis, fanless enclosures, heat-pipe and conduction cooling.

— Edge-AI platforms — NVIDIA Jetson, Intel OpenVINO — and GPU server configuration.

— ISO 9001 exposure; DFM/DFT and NPI process experience.

— Mandarin, or prior working experience with Taiwanese or Chinese vendors on site.

What we offer

— Compensation positioned by experience and product knowledge, with group medical cover.

— Ownership of the product portfolio — what Netport and Acteck sell next is shaped by your work — with a production and quality team to direct and direct access to the founders.

— Vendor exposure in Taiwan and China, multi-country operations across India, Singapore and Taiwan, and a US export business.

— Founder-led, low-bureaucracy environment where decisions are taken quickly and good work is noticed.
