Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur, invites applications from visionary academicians, design practitioners, and academic leaders for the position of Dean – Faculty of Design.

The Dean will serve as the chief academic and administrative leader of the Faculty of Design, driving excellence in design education, research, innovation, industry collaboration, entrepreneurship, and global engagement. The successful candidate will lead the Faculty in delivering future-ready education aligned with NEP 2020, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Design Thinking, sustainability, and emerging technologies while fostering creativity and innovation across disciplines.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

1. Academic Leadership

- Provide strategic leadership for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Ph.D., Diploma, Certificate, and Executive Programmes in disciplines including Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Product Design, UI/UX Design, Animation, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, and allied design programmes.
- Lead curriculum design and periodic revision aligned with NEP 2020, NCrF, NHEQF, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and global design education standards.
- Promote interdisciplinary learning, studio-based education, design thinking, experiential learning, and project-based pedagogy.

2. Accreditation & Academic Quality

- Lead NAAC, NBA (where applicable), NIRF, and international accreditation readiness.
- Ensure implementation of OBE, CO-PO attainment, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), academic audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Benchmark programmes against leading national and international design institutions.

3. Research, Innovation & Creative Practice

- Foster research in design innovation, sustainability, digital media, user experience, material innovation, visual communication, cultural studies, and emerging technologies.
- Encourage design publications, patents, copyrights, design registrations, consultancy, exhibitions, funded projects, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Promote innovation through Design Labs, Fab Labs, Maker Spaces, and Centres of Excellence.

4. Industry Collaboration & Global Engagement





- Develop strategic partnerships with design studios, architecture firms, creative agencies, fashion houses, technology companies, manufacturing industries, startups, and international universities.
- Facilitate internships, live industry projects, collaborative studios, design competitions, international exchange programmes, and placements.

5. Faculty Development & Academic Administration

- Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing faculty members.
- Lead Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), industry immersion, research mentoring, leadership development, and performance management.
- Ensure effective workload allocation, succession planning, and academic governance.

6. Student Success & Entrepreneurship

- Strengthen student portfolios, design showcases, exhibitions, hackathons, innovation challenges, entrepreneurship, startup incubation, and participation in national and international competitions.
- Promote placements, freelance opportunities, global certifications, and higher education pathways.

7. Infrastructure & Resource Development

- Develop state-of-the-art design studios, digital fabrication laboratories, prototyping facilities, material libraries, photography and multimedia studios, and collaborative creative spaces.
- Ensure effective utilization of technology, software, and emerging digital tools for design education.

8. Governance & Administration

- Ensure compliance with UGC, NEP 2020, NCrF, NHEQF, university regulations, and institutional policies.
- Oversee budgeting, resource planning, ERP-enabled academic administration, infrastructure development, and strategic initiatives.

Eligibility

Education

- Ph.D. in Design, Fine Arts, Architecture, Visual Arts, Design Management, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- A Master's Degree in Design or an allied discipline with an excellent academic record.
- Significant skilled design practice, international exposure, or prestigious design awards will be an added advantage.

Experience

- Minimum 15 years of teaching, research, professional practice, and academic administration.
- At least 5 years in a senior academic leadership role such as Dean, Associate Dean, Head of Department, Director, or equivalent.
- Proven expertise in curriculum development, accreditation, design innovation, faculty leadership, and industry collaboration.
