Position Summary The Dean – Faculty of Architecture shall serve as the chief academic and administrative leader of the Faculty, providing strategic leadership in academic planning, research, accreditation, faculty development, industry engagement, and institutional governance. The Dean will ensure compliance with the Council of Architecture (CoA), UGC, NEP 2020, NCrF, NHEQF, and other statutory requirements while promoting innovation, sustainability, digital transformation, and excellence in architectural education.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

1. Academic Leadership

- Provide strategic leadership for B.Arch., M.Arch., Ph.D., Diploma, Certificate, and Executive Education programmes.
- Lead curriculum development aligned with CoA regulations, NEP 2020, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and global architectural education standards.
- Promote studio-based learning, design thinking, interdisciplinary education, and experiential pedagogy.
- Introduce emerging domains such as Sustainable Architecture, Smart Cities, Urban Design, Heritage Conservation, Landscape Architecture, Digital Architecture, BIM, Parametric Design, and AI in Design.

2. Accreditation & Academic Quality

- Lead NAAC, NBA (where applicable), NIRF, and international accreditation initiatives.
- Ensure implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), CO-PO attainment, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and academic audits.
- Maintain full compliance with Council of Architecture (CoA) regulations and academic quality benchmarks.
- Strengthen documentation, quality assurance systems, and regulatory reporting.

3. Research, Innovation & Consultancy

- Develop a strong research culture in architecture, urban planning, sustainability, climate-responsive design, smart infrastructure, and built environment.
- Promote publications, patents, design registrations, funded research, consultancy, and interdisciplinary projects.
- Facilitate funding from AICTE, DST, MoHUA, CSIR, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Smart Cities Mission, CSR initiatives, and international agencies.
- Establish Centres of Excellence in Sustainable Architecture,



Urban Innovation, Heritage Conservation, and Green Building Technologies.

4. Industry & Professional Collaboration

- Build strategic partnerships with architecture firms, urban planning organizations, government agencies, construction companies, design consultancies, real estate developers, and professional bodies.
- Facilitate internships, live projects, design competitions, workshops, consultancy assignments, and collaborative studios.
- Strengthen collaborations with CoA, Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), ISHRAE, IGBC, GRIHA, CREDAI, and international institutions.

5. Faculty Development & Human Resource Leadership

- Recruit, mentor, and retain highly qualified faculty members.
- Lead Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), research mentoring, industry immersion, and leadership development initiatives.
- Oversee faculty workload allocation, appraisal, succession planning, and academic performance management.

6. Student Development & Employability

- Enhance student learning through design studios, site visits, internships, workshops, architectural exhibitions, and national/international competitions.
- Promote entrepreneurship, innovation, startup incubation, portfolio development, and professional certification.
- Strengthen placement opportunities and higher education pathways.

7. Infrastructure & Laboratory Development

- Develop world-class design studios, CAD/BIM laboratories, digital fabrication labs, material museums, model-making workshops, GIS laboratories, VR/AR visualization facilities, and sustainable building demonstration units.
- Ensure optimal utilization of physical and digital infrastructure.

8. Governance & Administration

- Ensure compliance with CoA, UGC, NEP 2020, NCrF, NHEQF, and University regulations.
- Lead budgeting, infrastructure planning, ERP-enabled academic administration, strategic planning, and quality assurance.
- Prepare reports for Academic Council, Apex Council, Vice Chancellor, and statutory authorities.

Eligibility

Education

- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (B.Arch.) recognized by the Council of Architecture.
- Master's Degree (M.Arch.) in a relevant specialization.
- Ph.D. in Architecture, Urban Planning, Design, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Registration with the Council of Architecture (CoA) is mandatory.

Experience
- Minimum 15 years of teaching, research, qualified practice, and academic administration.
- At least 5 years in a senior academic leadership role such as Dean, Associate Dean, Principal, Head of Department, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, CoA compliance, accreditation, faculty leadership, research, consultancy, and institutional development.
