Role Description The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations within the hotel to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted functioning of facilities and equipment. This full time, on-site role is based at Sarovar Hotels in Kota and involves managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs for HVAC systems, electrical installations, plumbing, fire safety equipment, lifts, and other building services.

The Chief

Engineer will lead and supervise the engineering team, allocate workloads, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and brand standards. The role includes coordinating with external vendors and contractors, managing maintenance budgets, monitoring energy consumption, and implementing cost- and energy-efficient solutions.

The Chief

Engineer will also support renovations and project work, respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance requests, and maintain statutory compliance and documentation for all technical systems.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of hotel engineering operations, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, building management systems, and fire safety.




- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance planning, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing safety and compliance standards.
- Leadership skills to supervise engineering staff, manage shift operations, train team members, and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
- Ability to manage budgets, control maintenance and energy costs, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and oversee small projects and refurbishments.
- Familiarity with local building codes, statutory requirements, and regulatory compliance related to hospitality facilities and engineering.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification) from a recognized institution.
- Previous experience in a similar engineering leadership role within hotels or large commercial facilities is strongly preferred.
- Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate with other departments and respond to guest and operational needs promptly.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management systems, basic MS Office tools, and reading technical drawings and manuals.
