Role Description The Chief Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based at Sayaji Hotels in Rajkot. This role oversees all engineering and maintenance operations for the property, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, fire safety, and building infrastructure.

The Chief

Engineer leads the engineering team, plans preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, and ensures minimal downtime of equipment and utilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring energy consumption, optimizing operational efficiency, coordinating with vendors and contractors, and maintaining statutory compliance and safety standards.



The role collaborates closely with hotel leadership to support guest comfort, manage budgets for engineering projects, and drive continuous improvements in sustainability and asset management.

Qualifications

- Strong expertise in hotel engineering operations, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems, HVAC, and building maintenance.
- Sound knowledge of fire safety, occupational health and safety standards, and local regulatory and statutory compliance relevant to hospitality.
- Demonstrated skills in team leadership, workforce planning, vendor coordination, and cross-functional collaboration with hotel departments.
- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance planning, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing engineering records and documentation.
- Ability to manage budgets, control costs, plan capital expenditure, and support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Relevant technical qualification such as a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Prior experience in a similar role within hotels, resorts, or large commercial facilities, preferably as a Chief Engineer or Senior Engineer.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on guest satisfaction and operational reliability.
- Willingness to work flexible hours when required, and be available in office for emergency or critical maintenance situations.
