About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Bus Body Design Engineer with strong expertise in bus body shell structures, BIW (Body-in-White), sheet metal design, fabricated and welded structures, and interior component integration.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in developing bus body structures from concept to production, preparing manufacturing-ready CAD models and drawings, and ensuring compliance with applicable automotive regulations and bus safety standards.

Experience in electric bus design, monocoque structures, vehicle packaging, and homologation will be an added advantage.

? Key Responsibilities

- Bus Body Structure & BIW Design
- Design and develop complete bus body shell structures, including LH/RH sides, roof, front, rear, floor, and structural subassemblies.
- Develop BIW structures, cross-members, brackets, reinforcements, pillars, and welded assemblies.
- Design body panels, doors, emergency exits, wheel arches, footsteps, and other structural components.
- Support the development of conventional and electric bus body structures.
- Sheet Metal & Fabrication Design
- Create 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and assembly drawings for sheet metal and fabricated components.
- Apply appropriate sheet metal design practices, bend allowances, material specifications, and manufacturing constraints.
- Design components suitable for welding, fabrication, machining, and assembly.
- Ensure design feasibility through DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing process considerations.
- Interior Design & Vehicle Integration




- Design and integrate dashboards, driver cabins, roof trims, side panels, flooring, luggage racks, seats, doors, windows, and HVAC ducts.
- Coordinate the packaging and integration of mechanical, electrical, and vehicle-level components.
- Perform component positioning, clearance checks, and digital mock-up (DMU) reviews.
- Ensure compatibility between body structures, interior systems, and vehicle architecture.
- Engineering Documentation & Manufacturing Support
- Prepare and release 2D manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Apply GD&T; principles, dimensional tolerances, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Coordinate with production, quality, procurement, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Support prototype builds, design validation, engineering changes, and production issue resolution.
- Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Work with applicable automotive regulations and bus safety standards, including relevant AIS and CMVR requirements.
- Support homologation documentation and drawing reviews.
- Apply DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and engineering change management practices.
- Ensure structural integrity, manufacturability, serviceability, and compliance with customer specifications.

? Required Technical Skills

✅ Hands-on experience in bus body shell structure design and development.

✅ Strong knowledge of BIW, sheet metal, fabricated structures, welded assemblies, and body panels.





✅ Experience with bus interior component design and vehicle-level integration.

✅ Proficiency in at least one major CAD platform: CATIA V5, SOLIDWORKS, or Siemens NX.

✅ Strong understanding of 3D modelling, 2D drafting, assembly design, and manufacturing drawings.

✅ Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance analysis, BOM preparation, and engineering change management.

✅ Understanding of welding, fabrication, assembly, and production processes.

✅ Familiarity with DFM/DFA and DFMEA methodologies.

✅ Knowledge of applicable automotive regulations, bus safety standards, and homologation requirements.

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in electric bus body design, monocoque structures, or EV component packaging.
- Exposure to AIS 052, AIS 153, AIS 023, UBS II, and applicable CMVR requirements.
- Experience in prototype vehicle development, reverse engineering, and production support.
- Knowledge of structural analysis and validation.
- Experience working with OEMs, bus body manufacturers, or automotive engineering service providers.

? Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a technically solid engineer who can independently handle bus body design activities, develop manufacturing-ready engineering deliverables, and coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Candidates with proven experience in complete bus body structure development, from concept through prototype and production, will be preferred.
