BI & Data Platform Engineer / Lead Role Overview

This person will be a BI & Data Platform Engineer to support the administration, operation, and continuous improvement of Banc of California’s BI and data platform environment. The role provides hands-on support across SAP BusinessObjects, Power BI, Snowflake, Azure, Microsoft Purview, and platform automation, while partnering across teams to maintain a secure, reliable, and well-governed data ecosystem. This individual will also be expected to take proactive ownership of the environment by identifying optimization opportunities, recommending improvements, and helping drive them through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and support SAP BusinessObjects, including users and access, server/environment health, report scheduling and distribution, security, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting, consistent with the existing engagement scope.
- Administer and support Power BI, including tenant configurations, workspaces, capacities, gateways, refresh schedules, security/access, monitoring, and deployment processes.
- Support Snowflake platform administration and operations, including monitoring workloads, troubleshooting issues, and supporting the broader data environment.
- Support Azure and Microsoft Purview across platform operations, security, governance, cataloging, and related data management activities.




- Support and maintain Terraform and CI/CD processes used to automate deployments and manage platform configurations and environments.
- Monitor platform health, availability, usage, and performance across the BI and data ecosystem and resolve operational issues as they arise.
- Partner with data engineering, architecture, security, infrastructure, and business teams to support integrations, platform changes, and ongoing data initiatives.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve platform performance, cost, reliability, governance, and automation, including areas such as Snowflake workload and cost optimization.
- Analyze platform trends and recurring issues and bring forward recommendations rather than relying solely on assigned tasks or reactive support.
- Take greater technical ownership and lead-level responsibility for platform improvements, helping evaluate solutions, recommend next steps, and drive initiatives through implementation.
- Maintain platform standards, documentation, procedures, and best practices to support a secure, scalable, and well-governed workplace.

Ideal Experience Hands-on experience supporting enterprise BI and data platforms, including SAP BusinessObjects, Power BI, Snowflake, Azure, and Microsoft Purview, with exposure to Terraform, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation. Strong troubleshooting and platform administration skills, with the ability to independently identify opportunities, recommend solutions, and take ownership of continuous platform improvement.
