Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced taxation professional to lead and manage the organization's direct and indirect tax functions, with a primary focus on GST compliance, litigation, and tax governance. The incumbent will take ownership of in-house GST representation before tax authorities and appellate forums while ensuring robust tax compliance, accounting accuracy, and risk management across the organization. The role requires a solid blend of technical tax expertise, stakeholder management, litigation handling, and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Governance

- Manage end-to-end Direct Tax and Indirect Tax compliance activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns, TDS returns, income tax compliances, and other statutory tax obligations.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on business operations.
- Drive implementation of tax controls, process improvements, and risk mitigation measures.

GST Litigation & Representation

- Lead GST litigation matters across multiple states.
- Handle departmental audits, investigations, notices, assessments, and scrutiny proceedings.
- Independently manage and represent the organization before GST authorities for Show Cause Notices (SCNs), adjudication proceedings, and appeals.
- Draft responses, submissions, legal representations, and appeal documents.
- Coordinate with external consultants, advocates, and regulatory authorities when required.

Tax Accounting

- Oversee tax accounting, provisioning, reconciliations, and tax-related financial reporting.
- Ensure accuracy of GST, TDS, and income-tax-related accounting entries.
- Partner with Finance and Accounts teams for audit readiness and statutory compliance.

Stakeholder Management

- Collaborate with Finance, Legal,



Business, and Operations teams on tax matters.
- Provide practical tax guidance and advisory support to internal stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with consultants, auditors, and tax authorities.

Team Leadership

- Mentor, and develop the taxation team.
- Drive accountability, capability building, and operational excellence within the function.

Candidate Profile

Educational Qualifications

- Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory.
- LLB (Bachelor of Laws) – Preferred and will be an added advantage.

Experience

- Significant post-qualification experience in taxation, including both Direct and Indirect Taxation.
- Strong hands-on experience in GST compliance and litigation management.
- Experience handling departmental audits, assessments, SCNs, adjudication proceedings, and appeals.
- Prior experience managing and leading a taxation team.
- Exposure to tax accounting and financial reporting is desirable.

Preferred Industry Background

- Candidates from the Financial Services, NBFC, Banking, FinTech, or broader Financial Industry will be preferred, given the need for a shorter learning curve and seamless transition of GST compliance and litigation responsibilities.
