Role & responsibilities
Design, develop, port, and integrate U-Boot bootloader features for Arm and AArch64-based platforms
- Develop and integrate TF-A components, including BL1, BL2, BL31, platform ports, secure monitor functionality, and the handoff to normal-world software
- Develop, customize, and debug SCP firmware for system control, power management, clock management, reset control, sensors, and platform management functions
- Enable new SoCs, boards, and reference platforms from early silicon and board bring-up through production release
- Implement platform initialization flows covering CPU, memory, storage, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, interrupt controllers, timers, and peripheral interfaces
- Configure and maintain device trees, boot scripts, boot commands, setting handling, image loading, and Linux boot flows
- Integrate secure boot, chain-of-trust, firmware authentication, measured boot, trusted execution, and platform security features
- Implement and debug interactions among U-Boot, TF-A, SCP firmware, Linux, trusted operating environments, and platform hardware
- Perform low-level firmware debugging using JTAG, trace tools, UART, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and platform-specific debug utilities
- Analyze hardware schematics, register specifications, memory maps, boot logs, and crash dumps to diagnose system-level issues
- Collaborate with silicon vendors, platform architects, hardware teams, Linux teams, validation teams, and customers to define and implement platform requirements
- Drive firmware quality through design reviews, code reviews, unit and integration testing, static analysis, performance optimization, and defect prevention
- Support firmware build systems, cross-compilation toolchains, source-control workflows, continuous integration, and release processes
- Document firmware architecture, boot flows, interfaces, design decisions, debug methods, and customer solutions
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical planning and resolution of complex platform firmware challenges
Preferred candidate profile Experience with the Firmware Framework for Arm A-profile (FF-A), Secure Partition Manager, Trusted Board Boot, and firmware update mechanisms
- Experience with OP-TEE, Trusted Execution Environments, secure boot, measured boot, TPM, or hardware roots of trust
- Familiarity with SCMI, PSCI, SMC calling conventions, power-domain management, and communication between application processors and system-control processors
- Experience with EDK II or UEFI on Arm platforms as an additional qualification
- Experience enabling server, AI, edge-computing, embedded, networking, or IoT platforms
- Knowledge of Yocto Project, Buildroot, Linux kernel development, or board support packages
- Experience with upstream open-source development, patch submission, code review, and community collaboration
- Experience working directly with OEMs, ODMs, silicon vendors, or hyperscale customers
