Job Opening: GeM Executive (Piping & Steel Materials)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and versatile GeM Executive to manage our end-to-end Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and tender operations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of tender processes and a solid technical understanding of piping and steel materials, so that quotations are accurate, competitive and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Tender Finding & Filing

- Search, identify and track relevant tenders on GeM, central and state government portals, PSUs and private e-procurement platforms
- Study tender documents, technical specifications, eligibility criteria, terms and conditions
- Prepare and submit complete bids (technical and commercial) within deadlines
- Handle bid documentation, EMD/bid security, performance guarantees, and compliance requirements

GeM Portal Management

- Manage seller account, catalogue creation and updates, and product listings
- Respond to bids, reverse auctions and direct purchase orders
- Maintain registrations, certifications and the vendor profile
- Track order status, delivery, invoicing and payment on GeM

Quotations & Costing

- Prepare accurate and competitive quotations based on customer enquiries and BOQs
- Calculate material weights, quantities and costs using standard formulas




- Compare supplier rates and coordinate with procurement for the best pricing
- Check technical specifications against tender requirements

Customer Coordination

- Coordinate with GeM buyers and government departments on queries, clarifications and follow-ups
- Handle post-order communication, dispatch coordination and documentation
- Maintain valuable relationships with buyers and internal teams

Technical Knowledge Required (Most Important)

The candidate must have strong working knowledge of:

Materials & Products

- Pipes and tubes (seamless, ERW, welded)
- Sheets and plates
- Fittings (elbows, tees, reducers, caps, etc.)
- Flanges (WN, SO, blind, slip-on, etc.)
- Fasteners (bolts, nuts, studs, washers)
- Rods, bars and round bars

Steel Grades

- Carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel (304/304L, 316/316L, 321, 310, etc.), duplex and super duplex, and other special grades
- Knowledge of relevant standards: ASTM, ASME, API, IS, DIN, EN, etc.

Sizes, Dimensions & Calculations

- Pipe sizes, NB/OD, schedules and wall thickness (SCH 10, 40, 80, 160, XXS, etc.)
- Pressure classes for flanges and fittings (150#, 300#, 600#, etc.)
- Sheet and plate thicknesses and standard dimensions
- Unit weight formulas for pipes, plates, sheets,



rods and other steel items
- Conversion between units (mm/inch, kg/MT, etc.)
- Understanding of tolerances, material test certificates (MTC) and third-party inspection requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Graduate in any discipline (B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy or a related field preferred)
- Proven experience in GeM, tendering and bid submissions
- Hands-on experience in the steel, piping, metals or industrial supply trade
- Strong skills in MS Excel, MS Word and PDF handling
- Good knowledge of GST, e-invoicing and government procurement procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Hindi
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work against deadlines
- Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with PSU, railway, defence, oil & gas or infrastructure tenders
- Familiarity with DGS&D;, CPPP, IREPS and other e-procurement portals
- Experience handling reverse auctions and L1 pricing strategy
