About the Role
We're looking for a Backend Engineer to own and scale the services that power NymbleUp's workforce-planning and scheduling platform across enterprise clients. You'll work on a Python/Django codebase backed by PostgreSQL and Celery, solving real production problems for large, multi-tenant deployments. This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys digging into hard problems, reasoning through edge cases, and shipping reliable systems.

What You'll Do
• Design, build, and maintain backend APIs and services using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Model data and write productive queries against PostgreSQL — FK joins, indexing, and query optimization.
• Build and operate asynchronous workflows with Celery (scheduled jobs, background tasks, queues).
• Debug and resolve production issues across multi-tenant environments — trace root causes, not just symptoms.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and take part in code reviews.
• Collaborate with frontend, product,



and DevOps to deliver features end-to-end.
• Contribute to performance, reliability, and security improvements.

Must-Have Qualifications
• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science (or equivalent CS engineering degree) — required.
• 3–5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and a modern web framework (Django/DRF preferred).
• Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and writing performant SQL.
• Strong debugging skills — able to systematically isolate, reproduce, and fix complex production issues.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking — breaks down ambiguous problems and weighs trade-offs.
• Strong logical reasoning — designs correct, edge-case-aware solutions and can defend design decisions.
• Solid grasp of CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, complexity, and concurrency.

Good to Have
• Experience with Celery or other task-queue / async processing syst
