Why Join Subway?
At Subway, we're building something significant. Our mission is clear — to grow franchisee profitability, brand relevance, and long-term value — and our corporate teams sit at the heart of making that happen.
We're a business that believes in meritocracy. Results open doors here, and the people who thrive are those who bring accountability, strategic thinking, and a genuine drive to create long-term impact. You'll be empowered to think and act like an owner — because that's exactly what we need from our people.
We move with pace and purpose. We adapt quickly, focus on innovation where it counts, and aren't afraid to make bold decisions. Alongside that, integrity is non-negotiable — we hold ourselves to the highest standards in how we work, how we lead, and how we treat one another.
And while we take our work seriously, we also know that the best results come from teams who celebrate progress, support each other, and bring real energy to what they do.
We are looking for a Sr. Director, Digital & Technology ANZ based out of our Brisbane HQ office.
About the role:
The Senior Director, Digital & Technology ANZ, has two primary areas of responsibility.
The first area of responsibility is supporting Subway technology across the APAC region. In this area, the Senior Director works with the Technology APAC Director, Global technology teams, and APAC master franchisees to ensure Subway’s technology requirements are met. This includes ensuring that master franchisees provide required data feeds to Subway, that master franchisees are meeting local digital and technology compliance requirements, and following digital and technology best practices. The Senior Director also works with the Director Technology, APAC, and Global technology teams, to provide direct support for any Subway systems that are used by APAC markets.
The second area of responsibility is leading Subway’s digital strategy, platform delivery, and digital operations in Subway’s SMO markets (Australia and New Zealand). The role owns the end-to-end digital ecosystem for Australia and New Zealand — spanning customer-facing channels (app, loyalty, delivery, kiosk, web), CRM and data capabilities, and the underlying technology platforms — ensuring Subway’s digital presence is commercially effective, scalable, and aligned with global architecture standards.
This is a commercially oriented digital leadership role. The Senior Director connects digital investment to measurable business outcomes — digital sales mix, loyalty adoption, CRM-driven revenue, and guest experience — while managing complex multi-vendor delivery environments and building strong cross-functional partnerships with Marketing, Operations, Franchise Performance, and Finance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Digital Strategy & Roadmap Leadership – ANZ
- Own and execute the ANZ digital strategy and roadmap
- Develop a coherent, commercially grounded digital strategy spanning customer channels (app, loyalty, delivery, kiosk), CRM and data capability, and technology infrastructure.
- Define clear roadmap priorities in partnership with Global Digital and Technology,
ensuring ANZ requirements are reflected in global product and platform decisions.
- Lead the Digital Ecosystem strategy for ANZ and provide structured executive updates to the APAC President and SSA Managing Director — including clear status on the Loyalty Transition and CRM roadmap, with flagged decisions and asks.
- Identify and sequence digital growth levers that demonstrably drive ANZ Same System Sales and improve the guest experience.
- Translate roadmap into executable delivery plans with defined owners, milestones, and budget accountability.
Digital Ecosystem Delivery – ANZ
- Lead end-to-end delivery of the ANZ digital ecosystem, including the Subway app, loyalty platform, CRM, digital ordering channels (delivery, kiosk, mobile order), and digital in-restaurant experiences.
- Own the technology strategy for the Loyalty Transition program — managing platform migration, franchisee technology enablement, and member migration — to a successful commercial outcome.
- Own the technology strategy for the CRM program, building capability for personalization, targeted campaigns, and data-driven guest engagement.
- Ensure all digital platforms are stable, secure, scalable, and compliant with ANZ privacy and data regulations.
- Manage multi-vendor delivery environments with rigor; hold vendors and internal teams accountable to agreed delivery standards.
Technology Support
- Working with the Director Technology, APAC, ensure that the master franchisees in APAC markets are complying with relevant Subway technology requirements.
- Ensure that stakeholder technology organisations are provided with relevant information and support in the transition from SMO to master franchisee market, or vice versa.
- Provide regular executive updates on status of master franchisee technology, progress of market transitions, and decisions required.
ANZ Market Digital Advisory Support
- Provide strategic advisory support upon request to ANZ markets considering or undertaking digital transformation, loyalty activation, or platform adoption.
- Communicate Subway digital best practices
- Represent ANZ in global digital product and technology forums.
Stakeholder Partnership & Governance
- Act as the primary digital partner to the APAC President, SSA Managing Director, and ANZ SMO functional heads — translating digital capability into commercial language.
- Provide structured, executive-ready updates on digital performance, roadmap status, loyalty transition, and CRM progress with flagged decisions and risks.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Franchise Performance, Operations, and Finance to embed digital capability into broader commercial execution.
- Maintain strong governance over digital budget, vendor performance, and platform risk.
- Engage with Global Digital and Technology leadership to align regional and global priorities.

- Ownership mindset with accountability for results
- Strategic, commercial, and impact‑focused
- Agile, decisive, and comfortable with change
- High integrity and strong collaboration skills
- Driven to deliver long‑term value
