Company: Nutran ESSPods India Private Limited

Location: Corporate HO in Vadodara, Gujarat

Employment: Full time, on-site

Experience: Preferably 1–4 years. Recent graduates with a strong portfolio of relevant projects may also be considered.

About Nutran

Nutran ESSPods India is developing the FUTRAN technology, an advanced electric urban mobility system. We are strengthening our in-house transport-planning and analytical capabilities to support project development across India and international markets.

We are looking for a transportation engineer who is equally comfortable understanding a mobility problem, working with data and writing code to solve it.

About the role

You will help evaluate potential FUTRAN corridors, assess connectivity and station catchments, and develop analytical tools for comparing deployment options.

Working with our engineering and project-development teams, as well as external feasibility consultants, you will turn transport datasets into useful models, interactive maps and clearly explained findings.

The work should help answer practical questions:

- Where are the important travel flows?
- Which locations would benefit from better connectivity?
- How should stations connect with existing transport services?
- What changes when we alter a corridor, station location or operating assumption?

This is a hands-on analytical and development role; not solely a report-writing, GIS-mapping or visualisation position.

Key responsibilities

1. Corridor assessment and network planning

- Analyse travel patterns, origin–destination flows, existing public transport, land use and major trip generators to support the assessment of potential corridors.
- Evaluate station locations, walking and feeder-service catchments, interchange opportunities and connectivity with metro, bus, railway and airport facilities. Compare alternative alignments and identify where further surveys or specialist studies are needed.

2. Transport-data processing and geospatial analysis

- Build repeatable workflows to acquire, clean, combine and analyse transport and spatial datasets. These may include GTFS feeds, OpenStreetMap networks, surveys, authorised ticketing datasets and land-use information.
- Develop city-level transport databases and network representations. Check data quality, document sources and limitations, and make the resulting datasets usable by internal teams and consultants.

3. Demand analysis and planning-level simulation

- Support travel-demand assessment,

passenger-flow analysis and the comparison of alternative network and service scenarios.
- Examine the effects of station placement, access time, waiting time, transfers, service frequency and capacity. Adapt models to FUTRAN’s operating characteristics using inputs agreed with the system-engineering team.
- Document assumptions, test sensitivity to key inputs and distinguish preliminary estimates from results supported by calibration and validation.

4. Interactive maps and analytical tools

- Develop browser-based maps, dashboards and visualisations that allow users to explore transport data and compare scenarios.
- Potential applications include origin–destination maps, accessibility analysis, station-catchment tools, corridor-loading visualisations and time-based network simulations. Ensure that the visual presentation accurately represents the underlying data and modelling assumptions.

5. Reusable software and workflows

- Turn useful prototypes into documented tools that can be applied across multiple cities and projects.
- Automate recurring data-processing and reporting tasks, maintain version-controlled code, and build appropriate checks into analytical workflows. Make the work understandable and maintainable by others.

6. Feasibility-study coordination and technical communication

- Prepare datasets, maps, assumptions and technical notes for external transport-planning and feasibility consultants.
- Support the review of their inputs and outputs, identify inconsistencies or information gaps, and help explain findings to colleagues and other project stakeholders. Participate in site visits and data-collection planning where required.

Essential skills

- Transport-planning fundamentals: An understanding of travel-demand modelling, origin–destination analysis, public-transport networks, accessibility, passenger flows and model calibration and validation.
- Programming and data analysis: Practical ability in Python and SQL, with experience applying them to real datasets. Ability to develop interactive web-based analytical tools using JavaScript/TypeScript or a comparable approach.
- GIS and spatial data: Working proficiency in QGIS,

ArcGIS or an equivalent environment. Familiarity with network data, coordinate systems, spatial joins and formats such as GeoJSON and shapefiles. Experience working with GTFS and OpenStreetMap is particularly relevant.
- Evidence of work completed: A portfolio demonstrating that you have built, substantially contributed to, or meaningfully adapted a transport-analysis tool, model, data pipeline or interactive application. You should be able to explain your contribution, methodology, testing and limitations.
- Clear technical judgement: The ability to question unreliable inputs, investigate unexpected results and explain what the analysis does—and does not—support.

Qualifications

- A degree in Transportation Engineering, Transport Planning, Geoinformatics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in transportation engineering or planning would be an advantage. Candidates from software or geospatial backgrounds should demonstrate a sound understanding of transport-planning problems through relevant work.

Additional experience that would be valuable

- Exposure to transport-modelling platforms such as OpenPaths CUBE or PTV Visum, spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and web-mapping or visualisation technologies such as Mapbox, deck.gl, Kepler.gl, D3 or Three.js.
- Experience with routing engines, network optimisation, agent-based or discrete-event simulation, and deploying analytical applications would also be useful.
- You do not need experience with every platform listed. We are more interested in your ability to choose appropriate methods, build reliable tools and explain the results.

Initial focus The initial work will involve creating a reusable transport dataset for a selected project city, developing an interactive corridor-and-station assessment tool, and comparing alternative scenarios with clearly documented assumptions.

The objective is to establish a practical workflow that can then be adapted for subsequent projects.

How to apply

Please share your CV and two or three examples of relevant work. These may include GitHub repositories, working applications, short demonstration videos or documented project studies.

For each example, explain the problem, the data used, your individual contribution and how you checked the results. Academic and independently developed projects are welcome. Please do not submit confidential information belonging to previous employers or clients.
