Title: Solar Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Delhi

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Solar PV electrical design and engineering.
- Proven experience in ground-mounted, utility-scale Solar PV projects.
- Hands-on experience in both pre-bid and detailed/post-bid engineering.
- Experience with international solar projects and multiple grid codes will be an added advantage.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Solar Electrical Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and engineering for ground-mounted, utility-scale Solar PV projects. Experience in both domestic and international projects will be an added advantage.

The candidate will be responsible for independently managing electrical engineering activities from pre-bid engineering through detailed engineering, ensuring technically sound, cost-effective, optimized, and compliant design solutions. The role requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and optimize electrical designs for utility-scale Solar PV plants, including DC/AC systems, inverter configuration, MV collection systems, and grid interconnection.
- Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, cable routing, equipment layouts, and electrical schematics.
- Perform electrical design calculations, including DC/AC/MV cable sizing, voltage drop, fuse and protection sizing, transformer and switchgear sizing, short-circuit and load-flow studies, reactive power, power factor, electrical losses, earthing, and lightning protection.
- Prepare technical specifications, datasheets,



and design documentation for major electrical equipment.
- Review vendor technical offers, drawings, datasheets, and deviations, and prepare technical evaluation reports and comparison sheets.
- Support pre-bid engineering activities, including tender/RFP review, technical clarifications, preliminary design, equipment sizing, and electrical BOM/BOQ preparation.
- Identify technical risks, design optimization opportunities, and cost implications during bidding and engineering stages.
- Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, Structural, SCADA, Procurement, and Project teams to ensure effective multidisciplinary design integration.
- Participate in client and consultant meetings, present technical solutions, resolve engineering queries, and drive technical issues to closure.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, IEEE, NEC/NFPA standards, local regulations, grid codes, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct design reviews, quality checks, and technical assessments to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
- Review and close client, consultant, and vendor comments within agreed project timelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Solar PV electrical design and engineering.
- Proven experience in ground-mounted, utility-scale Solar PV projects.
- Hands-on experience in both pre-bid and detailed/post-bid engineering.




- Strong understanding of solar plant electrical systems, equipment selection, protection systems, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Experience with international solar projects and multiple grid codes will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

- Strong knowledge of Solar PV electrical system design, engineering, and optimization.
- Proficiency in preparing SLDs, electrical layouts, cable schedules, equipment specifications, and design calculations.
- Working knowledge of electrical design and study tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or CYMCAP will be preferred.
- Good understanding of transformers, inverters, MV switchgear, protection relays, cables, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
- Knowledge of applicable international standards, grid compliance requirements, and project specifications.
- Ability to review technical documents, evaluate vendor offers, and prepare electrical BOQs and technical comparison reports.
