About Leumas

Leumas is building advanced manufacturing technologies for pharma and allied industries to make manufacturing more personalised, economical and distributed. Our teams bring together engineering, science and factory operations to build and run modular manufacturing systems.

As we expand, we’re looking for a hands-on HR professional who can strengthen factory culture, drive accountability and keep our people processes and compliance practices ready for scale.

About the Role

You will own plant HR operations, employee relations, workforce discipline, performance tracking and factory and labour compliance coordination.

Working closely with plant leadership and department heads, you will help build a factory where expectations are clear, performance is measured, employees are treated fairly and issues are resolved promptly. You will also coordinate audit readiness across departments and ensure compliance actions are followed through to closure.

Recruitment and hiring are outside the scope of this role.

What You Will Own

1. Factory Culture and Discipline

- Build a culture of punctuality, accountability, respectful behaviour and consistent adherence to plant procedures.
- Maintain a regular shop-floor presence and understand concerns across employees, supervisors and contract workers.
- Ensure workplace rules are communicated clearly and applied fairly across teams and shifts.
- Address absenteeism, repeated misconduct and disciplinary issues through documented processes.
- Work with managers to reinforce expected behaviours and resolve recurring workforce issues.

2. Performance Measurement and Tracking

- Work with department heads to define measurable KRAs, KPIs and role expectations.
- Maintain performance scorecards and track review completion, agreed targets and overdue actions.
- Coordinate probation reviews, periodic performance discussions and performance improvement plans.
- Ensure performance concerns are supported by evidence, communicated clearly and followed up.
- Present a regular people and performance dashboard to leadership, highlighting gaps and required interventions.

3.

Factory and Labour Compliance

- Own the compliance calendar for factory and labour matters, coordinating with consultants and relevant departments.
- Track applicable registrations, licences, renewals, returns, registers and statutory records.
- Verify contractor documentation relating to worker deployment, wages and applicable statutory contributions.
- Coordinate inspections, notices and compliance queries with management and authorised advisers.
- Maintain an action tracker with clear owners and deadlines, escalating gaps before they become overdue.

4. Facility Audit Readiness

- Coordinate ongoing facility readiness for statutory, customer and internal audits.
- Work with Production, Quality, EHS, Engineering and Administration to maintain required records and workplace practices.
- Keep employee files, attendance and wage records, training records, contractor documents and compliance evidence organised and accessible.
- Conduct periodic readiness checks with department owners and track observations through to closure.
- Ensure audit readiness is part of routine operations, with technical and quality requirements owned by the respective functions.

5. Attendance, Payroll and Employee Records

- Maintain accurate attendance, shift, overtime, leave and employee records.
- Prepare and verify payroll inputs with Finance and the payroll team.
- Resolve attendance and salary discrepancies promptly.
- Coordinate employee movements, exits and full-and-final settlement inputs.
- Maintain accurate information in Zoho People, Zoho Payroll or equivalent systems.

6. Contract Workforce and Employee Relations

- Coordinate daily workforce deployment and attendance with contractors and plant supervisors.
- Address contract workforce issues and monitor contractor adherence to agreed requirements.
- Serve as an accessible point of contact for employee grievances and workplace concerns.
- Support employee welfare,

communication and retention.
- Handle sensitive matters with confidentiality, fairness and sound judgement.

7. Onboarding and Exit Formalities

- Manage post-selection joining formalities, employee documentation and HRMS enrolment.
- Ensure appointment letters, policy acknowledgements, confidentiality agreements and other required documents are completed.
- Coordinate employee IDs, attendance registration and access requirements with relevant teams.
- Manage resignation records, notice-period tracking, handover completion and departmental clearances.
- Coordinate asset returns and timely access removal with Administration and IT.
- Prepare and verify full-and-final settlement inputs with Finance, coordinate exit documentation and conduct exit discussions where appropriate.

What We’re Looking For

- Strong plant HR experience in manufacturing, preferably pharma, nutraceuticals, food, cosmetics or a comparable workplace.
- Direct experience managing permanent employees and contract workers across shifts.
- Practical experience with factory and labour compliance, inspections and audit preparation.
- Experience implementing performance scorecards, review processes and improvement plans.
- Confidence handling employee grievances and disciplinary matters fairly and consistently.
- Solid documentation, follow-through, Excel and HRMS skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Kannada and English; Hindi is an advantage.
- A degree in HR, business administration or a related discipline; a postgraduate HR qualification is preferred.

Working at Leumas

We are a growing company that requires initiative, adaptability and strong ownership. You should be comfortable working closely with shop-floor teams, addressing issues directly and building practical systems while managing daily operations. We expect you to follow through, hold people accountable and help create a disciplined, respectful and performance-driven workplace.

Why Join Us

- Shape the factory culture and people practices of a growing manufacturing company.
- Work closely with plant leadership and the founding team.
