Engineering Effectiveness

Manhattan Associates is looking for a technically credible engineering leader to improve how teams plan, build, integrate, test, release, and operate software across the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC).

This is a broad, horizontal Engineering Excellence role. It will work across engineering, product,

architecture, DevOps, security, quality, operations, and delivery teams to improve how teams plan, build, integrate, test, release, and operate software.

A core responsibility is to establish a common engineering measurement and improvement system that connects demand, commitments, capacity, engineering flow, quality, productivity, technical debt, reliability, developer experience, and delivery outcomes.

Quality Engineering and Test Automation are important components of the role, but the broader focus is balanced Engineering Effectiveness - including engineering flow, developer productivity, delivery predictability, technical debt, DevOps/DevSecOps, engineering standards, AI-assisted engineering, and continuous improvement.

The role will initially operate largely through influence across existing engineering teams rather than through direct ownership of a large delivery organization. Existing engineering managers will continue to own their teams and delivery commitments.

What you will do:

- Establish a practical, cross-team view of engineering health using measures that connect demand, commitments, capacity, flow, quality, productivity, technical debt, reliability, and delivery outcomes.




- Use DORA metrics or equivalent measures where useful to identify constraints, guide trade-offs, prioritize improvements, and demonstrate results - not just report activity.
- Improve flow across the SDLC, from demand intake and prioritization through development, integration, testing, release, production, and operational feedback.
- Lead targeted improvements that reduce bottlenecks, wait time, rework, manual handoffs, dependencies, and release friction while protecting quality and reliability.
- Help engineering leaders make informed capacity and investment trade-offs across roadmap commitments, business-as-usual work, defects, reliability, technical debt, and modernization.
- Strengthen CI/CD, DevOps/DevSecOps, engineering standards, automation, observability, and Quality Engineering as connected parts of the engineering system.
- Identify responsible AI-assisted engineering opportunities and measure their impact on productivity, quality, cycle time, or developer experience.
- Build adoption through influence, coaching, reusable practices, communities of practice, and clear communication with technical and business leaders.

What the role requires:

- 14+ years of experience and a solid technical foundation in software engineering,



engineering enablement, DevOps, platform engineering, Quality Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
- A track record of improving engineering outcomes across multiple teams - not only managing delivery, testing, automation, platform operations, or program execution within one function.
- Experience using cross-team engineering measures, scorecards, or dashboards to establish a baseline, identify constraints, guide action, and show measurable improvement.
- Experience improving end-to-end SDLC workflows spanning development, integration, testing, CI/CD, release, and production feedback.
- Understanding of demand, commitments, capacity, delivery predictability, developer productivity, technical debt, and engineering trade-offs.
- Technical credibility across modern software delivery, CI/CD, DevOps/DevSecOps, Quality Engineering, and engineering automation.
- The ability to influence engineering teams and senior stakeholders through data, credibility, facilitation, and collaboration - without relying on direct authority.
- Strong analytical, communication, and change-leadership skills.
