About the Role:

As a Platform Engineer, you will be a key member of the End User Computing team responsible for engineering, packaging, deploying, and supporting up-to-date endpoint solutions across virtual and physical desktop environments. This role focuses on Microsoft Intune, Azure, endpoint automation, software packaging, Windows desktop lifecycle, and cloud-based desktop services, with AWS exposure preferred. The engineer will help deliver secure, reliable, and innovative end user technology for Zurich North America while partnering closely with global and regional EUC teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Packaging & Application Lifecycle:

- Own end-to-end software packaging, including intake, requirements review, build, customization, testing, delivery, and retirement.
- Package and deploy MSI, EXE, MSIX, and Intune Win32 applications using PSAppDeploy Toolkit and enterprise packaging standards.
- Manage application upgrades, installs, uninstalls, configuration changes, and rollback/recovery scenarios.
- Troubleshoot and remediate packaging, detection rule, install behavior, and deployment issues across physical and virtual endpoints.
- Maintain application lifecycle documentation, install guides, release notes, and operational handoff materials.

Endpoint Management & Cloud Desktop Engineering:

- Design, build, and implement endpoint configurations and user applications for Windows 10/11, Windows 365, AVD/VDI, and physical desktops.
- Manage and configure Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, Endpoint Manager, Active Directory, and Group Policy-based controls.
- Support and optimize cloud-based desktop environments, including Azure Virtual Desktop, Intune-managed devices, and AWS services where applicable.
- Support Windows Autopilot provisioning, device enrollment, profile assignment, device compliance, and endpoint lifecycle activities.
- Support deployment rings, pilot groups, staged rollouts, change validation, and production readiness reviews.

Security, Compliance & Vulnerability Remediation:

- Ensure endpoint solutions comply with local/global guidelines, security policies, and enterprise configuration standards.
- Partner with security and compliance teams to remediate endpoint vulnerabilities, application risks, and configuration drift.
- Support endpoint hardening, patch management, Windows Update for Business, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and compliance reporting activities.




- Review and validate third-party software requests for deploy ability, supportability, licensing, and endpoint risk considerations.

Automation, Monitoring & Operational Excellence:

- Develop and maintain automation solutions that improve endpoint management, software deployment, compliance remediation, and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain PowerShell scripts, Intune Remediations, detection logic, reporting exports, and repeatable operational runbooks.
- Use endpoint analytics and Digital Employee Experience tools such as Nexthink to identify trends, monitor health, validate remediation, and reduce user impact.
- Research, recommend, evaluate, and implement new technologies to support future IT initiatives and continuous improvement.

Support, Escalation & Collaboration:

- Provide Level 3 technical support and serve as an escalation point for complex endpoint, packaging, deployment, and virtual desktop issues.
- Participate in ServiceNow ticketing, incident, problem, change, and escalation processes.
- Support major incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation planning for high-impact endpoint issues.
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, and Level 2 support teams by providing guidance, documentation, troubleshooting support, and training as needed.
- Develop and drive assigned initiatives with minimal oversight while communicating status, risks, and blockers clearly.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Strong technical skills in Intune, Azure, Endpoint Manager, Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Advanced software packaging experience using PSAppDeploy Toolkit, MSI/EXE/MSIX, detection rules, transforms, and install customization.
- Expert scripting skills, especially PowerShell; Batch and VBScript familiarity preferred.
- Experience with Windows 10/11, Windows 365, Office 365/Microsoft 365 Apps, and enterprise desktop lifecycle management.
- Experience with ServiceNow ticketing, incident/change processes, documentation, and operational handoffs.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical thinking, ownership, and communication skills.

Nice to have Skill:

- Nexthink or other Digital Employee Experience / endpoint analytics platforms.
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, vulnerability remediation, endpoint hardening, and Windows Update for Business.




- Windows Autopilot, device enrollment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, and Intune Remediations.
- Flexera Admi Studio, Master Packager, or equivalent packaging tools.
- Citrix, VDI, AVD, and Azure Virtual Desktop experience.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, WorkSpaces, S3, and IAM.
- Experience supporting macOS devices is a plus.
