Role Description The Senior Application Security Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in GHQ Pune , responsible for safeguarding Sekel Tech’s applications and platform services. This role involves designing and implementing secure architecture patterns, performing threat modeling, and conducting code reviews and security assessments across web, mobile, and cloud-native applications. The engineer will collaborate closely with product, development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to integrate security controls into the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.

Daily work includes managing vulnerability discovery and remediation, coordinating penetration testing, maintaining secure coding standards,



and contributing to security tooling and automation. The role also involves mentoring engineers on security best practices, supporting incident response investigations, and helping evolve company-wide application security policies and guidelines.

Qualifications

- Strong experience in application security engineering, including secure architecture design, threat modeling, and secure coding practices for web and mobile applications.
- Hands-on expertise with common security vulnerabilities and frameworks (e.g., OWASP Top 10, SANS/CWE, secure authentication and authorization, session management, input validation).
- Proficiency with security testing and tooling, such as SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, container security, and manual code review techniques.
- Experience integrating security into development and DevOps workflows, including CI/CD pipelines, code repositories, and automated testing environments.
- Knowledge of cloud and platform security concepts, including API security, encryption, key management, configuration hardening, and monitoring for modern distributed systems.
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, communicate complex security issues clearly, and provide practical guidance to engineers and product stakeholders.
- Background in security incident response, vulnerability management, and coordination with internal and external testing resources is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
