Role OverviewParth Enterprises is seeking a detail-oriented, technically sound Quality Control (QC) Engineer to join our manufacturing and fabrication facility in Rabale, Navi Mumbai.
In this role, you will be responsible for upholding rigorous quality standards across incoming raw materials, in-process forming and fabrication operations, and finished goods. You will ensure full compliance with engineering drawings, client specifications, and industry quality benchmarks, driving defect reduction and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Testing
- Incoming Quality Control (IQC): Inspect incoming raw materials (plates, sheets, coils, forgings) against purchase orders, mill test certificates (MTC), and chemical/mechanical test reports.
- In-Process Quality Control (IPQC): Conduct stage-wise inspections during sheet metal forming, dish end pressing, shearing, rolling, welding, and surface treatment to catch defects early.
- Final Quality Control (FQC): Perform thorough dimensional, aesthetic, and structural verification of finished assemblies prior to packaging and dispatch.
- Instrument Handling: Operate and maintain standard precision measuring tools, including digital Vernier calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, bore gauges, bevel protractors, and ultrasonic thickness gauges.
2.
Production
Data, Cycle Time & Lead Time Tracking
- Cycle Time Studies:
Conduct regular time and motion studies across key operations (blank cutting, dish forming, trimming, edge preparation, welding, grinding) to benchmark standard cycle times.
- Lead Time Reduction: Map end-to-end production routing from raw material release to final packing; identify operational bottlenecks, waiting waste, and transport lags to shorten total manufacturing lead times.
- Shop-Floor Data Logging: Maintain daily production logs, machine uptime/downtime trackers, shift outputs, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
- Productivity & Line Balancing: Collaborate with machine operators and supervisors to minimize setup/changeover times (SMED principles) and balance workloads across workstations.
3. Documentation & Process Control
- Prepare comprehensive Inspection Reports (IR), Inward Material Inspection Reports, Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI) reports.
- Log, track, and document scrap, rework, and rejections; issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) when deviations occur.
- Coordinate calibration cycles for all inspection instruments, keeping a master calibration schedule and calibration certificates up to date.
- Generate daily and order wise charts detailing production efficiency, scrap percentages, First Pass Yield (FPY), and on-time delivery rates.
4. Inventory & • WIP Management
- WIP Monitoring: Track stage-by-stage Work-in-Progress inventory to prevent floor congestion, material mix-ups, or unrecorded buffer buildup.
- Raw Material & • Consumable Reconciliation:
Monitor incoming raw material stock against active job orders; coordinate with procurement to prevent stockouts of critical consumables.
- Scrap & • Rejection Control:
Track scrap generation by weight and percentage against BOM estimates; categorize non-recoverable scrap versus reworkable parts to maintain accurate inventory valuation.
- Stock Audits & • Traceability:
Conduct periodic physical inventory counts against Excel records.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications Educational Background
- B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Metallurgy Engineering from an accredited technical institution.
Work Experience
- Diploma: 1–2 years of hands-on QC experience in an industrial manufacturing setup.
- Degree: 2–4 years of relevant QC experience.
- Prior experience in metal forming, dish end manufacturing, pressure vessel fabrication, heavy engineering, or precision sheet metal stamping will be strongly preferred.
- Interest in this field of work is a big plus.
Technical & Analytical Competencies
- Drawing Interpretation: Strong command of 2D/3D engineering drawings, welding symbols, limits, fits, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;).
- Industrial Engineering Concepts: Sound grasp of cycle time, lead time, bottleneck analysis, line balancing, and material flow principles.
- Inventory Control: Hands-on experience with WIP monitoring, heat-code traceability, BOM reconciliation, and FIFO inventory protocols.
- Software & Data Tools: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookup formulas, efficiency dashboards).
Key Skills & Attributes
- Robust analytical mindset with rigorous attention to macroscopic deviation.
- Transparent verbal and written communication skills in English, Hindi to facilitate smooth coordination across shop-floor workers and management.
- Proactive conflict-resolution skills when addressing quality-versus-output bottlenecks on the shop floor.
