Job Title: Quality Engineer – Fabrication

Job Summary The Quality Engineer will oversee quality control and assurance activities across the metal fabrication and shop floor operations. This role ensures that all fabricated structures, assemblies, and welds comply with approved engineering drawings, client specifications, and industry quality standards

Key Responsibilities

- Inspection & Verification:
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspection of raw materials, fit-ups, welding, and finished fabricated structures.
- Check critical dimensions, alignment, squareness, and overall workmanship against blueprints.
- Welding & NDT Quality:
- Monitor welding processes, joint preparations, and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
- Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) where applicable.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), Material Test Reports (MTRs), inspection checklists, and as-built documentation.
- Maintain compliance with QMS standards (e.g.,



ISO 9001).
- Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis:
- Identify non-conformities (NC), tag rejected items, and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) reports.
- Coordinate with production, design, and project teams to resolve shop floor quality issues promptly.
- Audits & Dispatch:
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Ensure cleared products are properly tagged, documented, and ready for safe dispatch.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production, or a related discipline.
- Experience: [2 to 5+ years] of hands-on experience in quality control within a heavy engineering, structural, or sheet metal fabrication environment.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Solid ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.;
- Familiarity with fabrication codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, or IS codes).
- Proficiency in handling precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial gauges).
- Preferred: ASNT NDT Level II certification or Six Sigma / Lean exposure.
- Soft Skills: Good communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
