Role Description SciQra is seeking experienced Product Development & Formulation Consultants to support client projects involving new product development, cosmetic formulation, formulation optimization, ingredient selection, and technical troubleshooting. This remote, independent consulting opportunity involves collaborating with SciQra's scientific team and clients on an as-needed, project-by-project basis. Depending on project requirements, consulting activities may include reviewing product briefs, proposing formulation strategies, selecting and evaluating ingredients, and evaluating and optimizing formulation from compatibility, stability, and product performance perspectives.
The consultant will prepare technical documentation, collaborate with SciQra's toxicology and regulatory experts and provide guidance on claims support. The role also includes advising on manufacturing feasibility,
troubleshooting formulation issues, and recommending improvements based on scientific literature and marke t trends.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in formulation research and development (R&D;), new product development, and formulation optimization, including experience designing and optimizing formulations for cosmetics, personal care, or related consumer products.
- Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, formulation chemistry, ingredient compatibility, and product performance; familiarity with product safety principles is advantageous.
- Proficiency in technical documentation, including formulation records, specifications, and data summaries for internal and regulatory use.
- Ability to analyze scientific literature and product data to inform formulation decisions and risk assessments.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders in a remote consulting workplace.
- Attention to detail, structured problem-solving skills, and the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines as a contractor.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Preferably 5+ years of relevant formulation or product development experience.
- Experience with stability testing, compatibility studies, and scale-up or manufacturing transfer is an advantage.
- Prior consulting or client-facing experience in product safety, formulation, or regulatory support is beneficial.
Consulting Arrangement Independent, remote, project-based consulting chance. Engagements will be offered as needed, based on client requirements and consultant availability. Project scope, timelines, deliverables, and consulting fees will be mutually agreed upon. No fixed working hours or minimum project commitment are required.
