About the Role:

As enterprises scale their AI and GenAI capabilities, the organizations that win are the ones who can give machines a reliable, structured understanding of their business. We're hiring an Ontology Architect to build that understanding from the ground up — designing the ontologies, taxonomies, and knowledge graphs that turn fragmented enterprise data into a coherent, machine-readable model of the business. You'll work at the seam between data architecture and applied AI, partnering with domain data owners and AI/ML teams to ensure every downstream system — from analytics dashboards to LLM-powered agents — is grounded in a single, trustworthy semantic foundation.

What You'll Do

- Build base ontologies for a domain in pharma and CPG in collaboration with domain SMEs that we can take to market as an offering
- Own the end-to-end architecture of enterprise ontologies, knowledge graphs, and semantic/context layers for enterprise clients
- Build the knowledge graph backbone.



Architect ingestion pipelines, storage design, and governance for production knowledge graphs, whether triple-store or property-graph based, so the graph stays accurate and scalable as the business grows
- Partner with client stakeholders and SMEs to model business domains and drive consensus on shared definitions across teams
- Architect the technical implementation on graph platforms (e.g., Neo4j, GraphDB, Stardog) and integrate with enterprise data warehouses/lakehouses
- Design and oversee integration of the knowledge/context layer into GenAI applications (RAG pipelines, LLM grounding, semantic search, agent tooling)
- Guide and mentor delivery teams and junior architects through implementation, ensuring adherence to modeling standards and best practices
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to build and maintain the pipelines that keep the graph/ontology current and trustworthy
- Present architecture decisions and trade-offs directly to client leadership; translate technical modeling choices into business value

What You'll Bring

- Direct experience integrating a knowledge graph, semantic layer, or context layer into an LLM/GenAI application (RAG, GraphRAG, semantic search, or agent-based systems)
- Hands-on experience leading at least one full-lifecycle knowledge graph or enterprise ontology implementation- not just a pilot or POC
- 14+ years in Knowledge Architecture,



data architecture/engineering, and enterprise data platform design (Data Vault 2.0, Kimball, canonical data models), with a strong foundation in cloud data platforms (Databricks/Spark, Snowflake, or equivalent) and orchestration tools (Airflow or similar)
- Proficiency with one or more graph/semantic platforms (Neo4j, Stardog, GraphDB, Amazon Neptune, or similar) and familiarity with RDF/OWL/SPARQL or property-graph modeling
- Experience working directly with U.S. or global enterprise clients, ideally in a consulting or professional services environment
- Excellent communication skills- able to guide both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders through complex modeling decisions

Nice to Have

- Experience with data quality and constraint validation across graph structures
- Exposure to graph algorithms, graph ML (GNNs), or using knowledge graphs to strengthen LLM grounding via GraphRAG
