COMPETENT CRIMPING MACHINERY PRIVATE
Chennai
Competent Crimping Machinery Pvt. Ltd. (Regenato) designs and manufactures wire-processing and crimping machines for the wire-harness industry. We are looking for a full-time PCB Design & Hardware Engineer to own board design, BOM and component sourcing for our industrial machines.
? Location: Maraimalai Nagar, Chengalpattu (near Chennai) – On-site
? Employment type: Full-time, permanent
? Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in ECE, EEE, E&I; or related
? Experience: 1–3 years in PCB design / hardware development
ROLE OVERVIEW
You will take a board from requirement to working, soldered hardware: schematic, layout, BOM, component selection, sourcing and coordination with our PCB fabrication and assembly vendors. You will work closely with our firmware, production and service teams. This is a hands-on role, so expect bench work, bring-up and debugging, not only CAD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create schematics and 2-/4-layer PCB layouts for controller, I/O, sensor-interface and power boards
- Apply good layout practice: grounding, decoupling, isolation, creepage/clearance, EMI/ESD protection
- Maintain schematic symbol and footprint libraries
- Generate manufacturing outputs: Gerbers, drill files, pick-and-place, assembly drawings
- Design common circuit blocks: LDO/buck supplies, MCU support, op-amp signal conditioning, sensor front ends, opto-isolated I/O, relay/MOSFET drivers, RS-485/CAN/UART
- Select components on function, rating, cost, availability and lifecycle
- Create and maintain BOMs with approved alternates; manage obsolescence
- Get quotations from distributors (Mouser, DigiKey, LCSC, element14, local vendors) and PCB fabricators
- Coordinate with fab and assembly vendors; inspect first articles and incoming boards
- Support board bring-up and debugging with the firmware team
- Keep design files and revisions organised under version control; prepare test and troubleshooting notes
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Working knowledge of Cadence OrCAD/Allegro (preferred), Altium Designer or KiCad
- At least one complete board designed (schematic to Gerber)
- Good grasp of analog and digital basics: RC filters, op-amps, MOSFETs, regulators, logic levels, MCU pin functions
- Ability to read datasheets and select suitable parts
- Comfortable with multimeter, oscilloscope, bench supply and soldering (through-hole and basic SMD rework)
- Familiar with SMD packages (0603, 0805, SOT-23, SOIC, QFN, TQFP) and component polarity
- Positive Excel skills for BOMs and cost tracking
- Clear communication in English and Tamil
GOOD TO HAVE
- Experience with STM32 or ESP32 based boards
- Exposure to industrial electronics: 24 V I/O, isolation, relays, motor drivers, load cells, encoders
- Basic power electronics knowledge (SMPS, inverter or motor-drive stages)
- Awareness of DFM/DFA, IPC standards and EMC basics
- Basic Git usage
HOW TO APPLY
