Role Description The Online Metagenomics Data Analysis Instructor will design and deliver course modules focused on metagenomic sequencing data analysis and related bioinformatics workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing teaching materials, creating and updating lecture content, demonstrations, and practical exercises, and guiding learners through data preprocessing, quality control, taxonomic and functional profiling, and interpretation of results.



The role also involves collaborating with the education team to refine curricula, incorporate real datasets and case studies, and maintain high standards of academic rigor and clarity.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in metagenomics and bioinformatics, including experience with common tools and pipelines for metagenomic data analysis.
- Proficiency with data analysis environments (e.g., Linux command line, R, Python) and familiarity with version control and reproducible workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, or train learners, with clear communication skills and structured, learner-centered instructional practices.
- Ability to design course materials, practical assignments, and assessments that convey complex concepts in an accessible way.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or higher) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with sequencing data, microbial community analysis, or related research projects is highly beneficial.
