Role Description This is a full-time, in office Network Engineer role based in Kanpur at the IIT Kanpur campus.

The Network

Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure that supports hospital operations, research centers, and academic facilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points; monitoring network performance; diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues; and ensuring secure, reliable access to clinical and research systems.



The role also involves collaborating with IT, clinical, and research teams to support new deployments, upgrades, and MedTech solutions, as well as documenting network topology, policies, and procedures.

The Network

Engineer will help maintain high availability and security standards for critical healthcare and research data across the ecosystem.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Network Engineering and Network Design for complex, multi-site environments.
- Candidates should possess practical expertise in Network Administration and day-to-day network operations.
- Candidates should possess advanced Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving network performance and connectivity issues.
- Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Network Security principles, tools, and best practices for protecting clinical and research data.
- Relevant academic background such as a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- Experience with enterprise networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers) and common network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, DNS).
- Familiarity with healthcare IT environments, data privacy requirements, and high-availability systems is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, clear written and verbal communication, and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on-site.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
