About the RoleWe are hiring for a leading organization in the railway components and advanced manufacturing sector, seeking an experienced Head – Engineering to lead its Design & Engineering function.

The role will oversee the design, development and industrialization of railway components, interiors and structural assemblies, with a strong focus on composites and metal fabrication.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strategic leadership and a proven track record in driving engineering innovation, operational efficiency and product development.

Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership & Strategy

- Lead the Design & Engineering function, aligning engineering initiatives with business objectives.
- Build, mentor and manage high-performing engineering teams.
- Drive engineering innovation, process improvements and operational excellence.
- Plan resources and manage external technical service providers.

Product Design & Development

- Oversee the design and development of railway components, interiors and structural assemblies.
- Manage engineering drawings, BOMs, design validation, prototype development and product qualification.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, IRIS, EN standards and applicable railway regulations.
- Lead design reviews, optimization and engineering change management.

Project & Manufacturing Engineering

- Manage engineering deliverables across multiple railway projects.
- Drive tooling development, manufacturing process optimization and automation.
- Improve productivity, product quality and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with customers,



consultants and certification agencies.

Quality & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Ensure compliance with engineering quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Partner with Production, Quality, Procurement, Projects and Business Development teams.

Required Skills & Expertise
- Solid expertise in Composite Design Engineering, Structural Design and Product Development.
- Experience in composites and metal manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD and CAD/CAM tools.
- Knowledge of FEA, DFMEA, PFMEA, APQP, DFM and DFA.
- Experience in design validation, verification, optimization and design-to-cost.
- Understanding of prototype development, tooling and engineering change management (ECN/ECR).
- Strong capabilities in engineering project management, cost optimization and risk management.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications & Experience
- 20+ years in Engineering and Product Development, including a minimum of 7 years in a leadership role.
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Composite, Bus Body Building or a related engineering discipline.
- M.Tech/MBA preferred.
- Experience in Railway, Transportation, Bus Body Building or Composite Manufacturing industries preferred.
- Exposure to Indian Railways standards, customer specifications and certification requirements.
