Role Summary

This role is responsible for researching, writing, and submitting scholarly articles to peer-reviewed journals. The writer develops manuscripts across technical and professional fields, identifies journals whose scope and standards match each article, and guides each manuscript through peer review to publication.

Key Responsibilities

- Research and write original, well-structured scholarly articles (research papers, review articles, case studies, and perspective pieces) across technical and professional fields.
- Research technical topics in depth and translate complex concepts and data into clear, accurate scholarly writing.
- Review journal aims & scope, author guidelines, and recently published work to assess suitability, and tailor each manuscript to the target journal's structure, style, and citation requirements.
- Conduct literature reviews using academic databases (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, IEEE Xplore) and cite sources accurately.
- Prepare complete submission packages,



including cover letters, abstracts, keywords, figures and tables, declarations, and supporting documents.
- Submit manuscripts through journal submission platforms (e.g., Editorial Manager, ScholarOne) and track their status through to a decision.
- Respond to editor and reviewer comments, revise manuscripts, and prepare clear point-by-point response letters.
- Ensure originality and uphold publication-ethics standards, including plagiarism screening and proper attribution.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Prior experience writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, with published papers as evidence (first-author or co-author).
- Master's degree or higher in a technical, scientific, engineering, business, or related discipline (M.Phil/Masters preferred). Candidates with a bachelor's degree and a strong publication record will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of the academic journal ecosystem: aims & scope, peer review, article types, indexing databases, and journal metrics.
- Technical aptitude: able to understand and accurately explain technical concepts across areas such as engineering, computing, data science, life sciences, or business.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt tone and structure to different disciplines and journals.
- Proficiency with reference managers (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote) and plagiarism-checking tools (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate).
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to handle multiple manuscripts at different stages concurrently.

Preferred (Not Required)

- Experience publishing across more than one discipline.
- Prior experience as a scientific or technical writer, journal editor, or peer reviewer.
- Familiarity with LaTeX and journal-specific manuscript templates.
