CTS Group/CTS Asia - Part of CTS Group is hiring Factory Commissioning Manager for its growing Data Center engineering & delivery teams in Oragadam, Chennai.

? Location: Oragadam, Kanchipuram, Chennai

? Company: CTS Group

Role Overview The Factory Commissioning Manager is responsible for bringing CTS Group's new production facility at ESR Oragadam Industrial Park, Chennai, into safe operation, and then for leading the commissioning and testing of every prefabricated unit it produces. The facility will manufacture prefabricated power modules (EPODs), electrical switchboards based on the CTS NordicEPOD blueprint, with other modular data center units planned for later phases.

In the start-up phase, the role owns commissioning of the plant's utilities, production equipment, and test infrastructure. Once the facility is operational, the role becomes the owner of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and integrated systems testing, ensuring every unit is fully tested, documented, and validated before dispatch. This is central to CTS' fast-track delivery model, where thorough factory testing reduces on-site commissioning time and de-risks final handover.

Working closely with the Plant Director, Production, Design, Quality, HSE, and project teams, and with CTS production sites in the Nordics, the Factory Commissioning Manager also provides on-call support for site commissioning of CTS-built units on data center projects and builds commissioning capability through the Chennai training facility.

Key Responsibilities

1.Facility Start-up

- Develop and own the facility commissioning plan, covering system breakdown, sequence, test procedures, and readiness criteria aligned with the plant start-up programme.
- Lead commissioning of plant utilities and building services, including HT/LT power distribution, transformers, DG sets, UPS, HVAC, compressed air, and fire detection and suppression, together with contractors and OEMs.
- Commission production and material-handling equipment, including EOT cranes, assembly lines, and fabrication machinery, and close punch lists and non-conformances before acceptance.

- Set up and commission the test bay, including high-voltage, insulation resistance, injection, load bank, and functional test equipment, with calibration and safety interlocks in place.
- Plan and secure the statutory inspections and approvals required for energisation and operation, including Electrical Inspectorate (CEIG), fire NOC, and factory licence requirements, working with the plant compliance team.

2. Product Commissioning and Testing

- Plan, schedule, and lead commissioning of EPODs and switchboards, and of other modular units as they are introduced, from pre-commissioning checks through to FAT and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Develop and maintain commissioning plans, test scripts, method statements, and checklists aligned with project specifications, client requirements, and CTS Nordic standards.
- Coordinate electrical, protection, controls, and auxiliary system testing across each unit, ensuring systems are tested individually and as an integrated whole, with redundancy and uptime criteria verified.
- Coordinate third-party specialists, OEM representatives, and production staff in the test bay, planning testing to meet the build and dispatch schedule.
- Witness and validate testing, record results, and raise, track, and close out snags and non conformances before units are released for shipment.
- Host client and consultant witness tests, presenting results and technical documentation clearly.
- Compile complete commissioning documentation packs for each dispatched unit, including test records, certificates, and as-tested reports.
- Enforce permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and energisation safety procedures in the test bay and on the production floor.

3.Project Support and Capability Building

- Provide on-call support to project commissioning teams during Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and IST of CTS-built units on data center projects in India and the region,

with project teams retaining the lead on site.
- Feed factory and site testing findings back to Production and Design, and drive continuous improvement of procedures, tooling, and documentation to support higher throughput.
- Commission current production lines and capacity expansions as the plant scales.
- Develop and deliver commissioning and testing modules at the Chennai training facility, contributing to CTS certification of engineers, technicians, and contractor teams.

Required Skills and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- 10–15 years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical equipment, in data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial plants, or prefabricated electrical modules, including ownership of FAT or commissioning programmes.
- Hands-on experience testing LV/MV switchgear, switchboards, transformers, UPS, and power distribution equipment, including routine and type tests; experience with an electrical OEM, panel builder, or prefabricated power modules is a strong advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of commissioning processes, including FAT, SAT, and IST across electrical, protection, and controls systems.
- Understanding of data center systems such as chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, generators, and BMS, and of redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N), is an advantage.
- Experience commissioning a greenfield factory or industrial facility, or commissioning in a production environment alongside production and quality teams, is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with international standards and Indian requirements, including IEC 61439, IEC 62271, CEA regulations, and Electrical Inspectorate approvals.
- Strong understanding of energisation safety, LOTO, and permit-to-work systems; a valid electrical safety authorisation is an advantage.
- Proven ability to manage vendors, specialists, and test schedules under fast-track timelines, with strong documentation discipline.
- Good written and spoken English, with strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to be based at Oragadam, Chennai, to travel to project sites in India and the region, and to undertake training at CTS production sites in Europe.
