Azure Cloud Architect – AWS to Azure Migration & Application Modernization

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Architect to lead large-scale cloud transformation initiatives, with a strong focus on AWS to Azure migrations and application modernization. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in designing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures while driving migration strategy, application assessment, and target-state solution design. This role requires a combination of cloud architecture, migration planning, application understanding, and stakeholder engagement to deliver successful cloud adoption programs.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end AWS to Azure migration initiatives, including assessment, planning, architecture design, and execution.
- Analyze existing application landscapes and recommend migration approaches such as Rehost, Replatform, or Refactor.
- Design scalable, secure, and highly available Azure architectures aligned with business requirements.
- Create High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents for cloud solutions.
- Define Azure landing zones, governance frameworks, identity strategies, and security controls.
- Architect application hosting solutions using Azure App Services, AKS, Virtual Machines, and serverless services.
- Drive application modernization initiatives including microservices, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
- Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to define migration roadmaps and target architectures.
- Lead cloud assessments, dependency mapping, migration wave planning, cutover planning, and risk mitigation activities.




- Implement monitoring, logging, disaster recovery, and cost optimization strategies across Azure environments.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance throughout the cloud transformation lifecycle.
- Support DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code adoption using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, and CI/CD practices.

Required Skills

- 10+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years in Cloud Architecture.
- Proven experience leading AWS to Azure migration projects/programs.
- Strong expertise in application assessment, modernization, and cloud transformation.
- Hands-on experience designing cloud-native and microservices-based architectures.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Virtual Machines, Azure App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Azure API Management, Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
- Experience with Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), dependency assessment, migration wave planning, and cutover execution.
- Excellent understanding of migration approaches such as Rehost, Replatform, and Refactor.
- Experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM Templates for Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
- Good understanding of Azure security, governance, compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Experience designing highly available, scalable, and secure enterprise solutions.
- Solid stakeholder management, architecture review, and client-facing communication skills.
- Ability to lead architecture workshops, provide technical guidance, and drive solution design decisions.
