Application Engineer – Video Analytics

Job Summary

We are looking for a technically skilled and customer-focused Application Engineer – Video Analytics to support the deployment, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of video analytics solutions at customer sites.

The candidate will be responsible for server provisioning, IT infrastructure setup, network integration, application deployment, and ensuring the reliable operation of video analytics systems in real-world environments.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in networking, Linux, GPU/CPU servers, Docker, storage, databases, IP cameras, and video surveillance technologies. The candidate must be capable of independently resolving complex technical issues, managing customer expectations, and delivering solutions within committed timelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Customer Engagement: Understand customer requirements and expectations, address technical queries, and provide timely and effective support.
- Server and IT Infrastructure Provisioning: Install, configure, and maintain servers, GPUs, storage systems, networking equipment, and other IT hardware.
- Installation and Commissioning: Deploy and configure video analytics applications, IP cameras, network infrastructure, and supporting services at customer sites.
- Site Surveys and Technical Assessment: Conduct site surveys, assess infrastructure readiness, identify dependencies, and prepare technical requirements for deployment.
- Networking and Integration: Configure IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and local/offline networks while ensuring seamless integration with existing customer infrastructure.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve issues across networking, Linux, Docker, GPU, storage, databases, APIs, and application layers.
- Video Analytics Calibration: Perform camera positioning, analytics-zone configuration, and on-site validation to ensure optimal analytics accuracy under actual operating conditions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with customer IT teams, system integrators, electricians, project managers, and internal engineering teams.
- Product Improvement: Identify product limitations, technical shortcomings, and recurring issues, and proactively recommend improvements to the engineering and product teams.
- Project Delivery: Manage field-level technical challenges, prioritize critical issues, and ensure deployments are completed within agreed timelines.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain installation records, troubleshooting logs, site observations, technical documentation, and regular project status updates.

Must-Have Technical Skills

1. Networking and Infrastructure

- Expert-level understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and port management.
- Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN networks, routers, managed switches, SSH, RDP,



and fibre-optic connectivity.
- Ability to design, configure, and troubleshoot isolated or offline networks and integrate systems into existing customer networks.

2. Linux Administration and Debugging

- Robust working knowledge of multiple Linux distributions, including installation, configuration, user and permission management, process monitoring, and service administration.
- Practical experience troubleshooting system, network, resource-utilization, and application issues using Linux command-line tools.
- Ability to diagnose Docker, connectivity, service startup, dependency, and performance-related issues.

3. GPU/CPU Servers and Hardware

- Experience deploying applications on GPU- and CPU-based servers.
- Hands-on installation and configuration of NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, and GPU-enabled application environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot GPU detection, driver compatibility, CUDA dependencies, thermal issues, and resource utilization.
- Experience with server hardware provisioning, maintenance, storage configuration, RAID, and ODM/OEM server platforms.

4. Docker and Distributed Applications

- Strong practical knowledge of Docker images, containers, volumes, networks, and Docker Compose.
- Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting multi-container applications, including GPU-enabled workloads.
- Understanding of distributed application architectures, inter-service communication, dependencies, and service availability.

5. Application Integration and Web Services

- Experience integrating and troubleshooting REST APIs.
- Hands-on knowledge of Nginx configuration, reverse proxy, application routing, port mapping, and traffic forwarding.
- Practical experience with PostgreSQL, including database connectivity, configuration, basic administration, and troubleshooting.

6. Scripting and Development Tools

- Bash scripting for automation, deployment, system administration, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Python and Python scripting for deployment utilities and operational tooling.
- Familiarity with Windows Command Prompt, PowerShell, and Git for version control and collaborative development.

7. IP Cameras and Video Surveillance

- Strong understanding of IP cameras, VMS/NVR systems, and video surveillance architectures.
- Hands-on experience with camera discovery, configuration, ONVIF integration, and adding or managing multiple camera streams.
- Practical knowledge of RTSP streaming over TCP/UDP, stream connectivity, authentication, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of H.264/H.265 video codecs, resolution, frame rate, bitrate,



and camera stream configuration.

8. End-to-End Troubleshooting

- Ability to independently identify root causes and resolve technical issues across network, hardware, operating system, GPU, storage, and application layers.
- Confidence in handling live production environments and resolving field-level issues within agreed service timelines.
- Ability to collect logs, analyze system behavior, implement corrective actions, and escalate complex issues with appropriate technical evidence.

Field Responsibilities

- Travel to customer and project sites for installation, commissioning, integration, and maintenance of video analytics solutions.
- Conduct site surveys and assess camera coverage, network readiness, server capacity, storage requirements, and deployment dependencies.
- Install and configure cameras, servers, switches, storage systems, and analytics applications.
- Configure camera parameters, positioning, regions of interest (ROIs), and analytics zones.
- Validate system functionality and analytics accuracy under actual site conditions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues involving camera connectivity, video streams, networks, servers, GPUs, and application services.
- Coordinate with customer IT/security teams, system integrators, electricians, and internal engineering teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Work independently at customer sites, manage technical activities, and provide timely progress reports.
- Deliver immediate technical assistance during critical situations and support after-hours or round-the-clock operations when required.
