Job Summary

As a Barista at The Coffee Kartel, you will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee, non-coffee beverages, and specialty drinks while maintaining consistent taste, presentation, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of espresso preparation, coffee machines, milk steaming, latte art, beverage recipes, and café hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare espresso-based beverages, including espresso, Americano, cappuccino, latte, mocha, and other specialty coffees.
- Operate and maintain commercial espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other beverage equipment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in espresso extraction, grind-size adjustment, milk steaming, and basic latte art.
- Prepare cold coffees, frappes, iced beverages, milkshakes, mojitos, coolers, and other café specialty drinks.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)



and standardized recipes to ensure consistent taste and presentation.
- Maintain beverage quality, portion control, and preparation speed during busy service hours.
- Understand coffee beans, roast profiles, brewing methods, and espresso calibration.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene at the coffee counter and throughout the beverage preparation area.
- Monitor milk, coffee beans, syrups, sauces, toppings, and other beverage ingredients.
- Assist with stock management, inventory checks, and wastage control.
- Interact professionally with customers, understand their preferences, and recommend suitable beverages.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff, service staff, and café management to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow food safety procedures and maintain equipment according to company standards.
- Learn new beverage recipes and contribute ideas for seasonal and signature drinks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Previous experience as a Barista in a café, coffee shop, hotel, or restaurant is preferred.
- Practical knowledge of espresso machines and commercial coffee grinders.
- Understanding of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and coffee preparation techniques.




- Ability to prepare hot and cold beverages according to standardized recipes.
- Basic latte art skills are preferred.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Robust attention to detail, cleanliness, and beverage presentation.
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays when required.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in specialty coffee shops, premium cafés, or high-volume beverage operations will be given preference.

Knowledge of specialty coffee, manual brewing methods, beverage costing, inventory management, and new beverage development will be an advantage.
