Required Qualifications: MBBS combined with MS Orthopedics.

An Orthopaedics Professor in a medical college combines senior-level clinical and surgical practice with undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, research, and departmental administration.

Core Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Academic Training

- Undergraduate Teaching: Deliver lectures, clinical demonstrations, and bedside clinics for MBBS students.
- Postgraduate Training: Mentor and train MS (Orthopaedics), DNB, and diploma residents.
- Curriculum & Assessments: Conduct formative and summative examinations, guide thesis/dissertations, and update syllabi according to National Medical Commission (NMC) norms.

2. Clinical & Surgical Care

- Patient Management: Handle Outpatient Department (OPD) consultations, inpatient care, and ward rounds.
- Surgical Operations: Independently perform or supervise complex elective and emergency orthopedic surgeries (such as joint replacements, spine surgery, and major trauma reconstructions).
- Emergency On-Call: Manage acute trauma cases, fractures, and musculoskeletal emergencies.

3. Research & Publication

- Clinical Research: Design,



initiate, and oversee institutional research projects.
- Academic Output: Publish research papers in indexed peer-reviewed journals and present findings at medical conferences.

4. Administration & Compliance

- Departmental Support: Assist the Head of Department (HOD) in planning rosters, managing hospital units, and mentoring junior faculty.
- Quality & Accreditation: Ensure adherence to NMC, NABH, and institutional safety/hygiene protocols.

Required Qualifications & Eligibility (NMC Norms in India)

- Essential Degrees:
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MS (Orthopaedics) or DNB (Orthopaedics).
- Experience:
- Required tenure as an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics as per current NMC guidelines.
- Research Track Record:
- Mandatory research publications in indexed journals as prescribed by regulatory standards.
