- Adhere to state and national teaching standards and prepare lessons that educate students in core subjects
- Deliver lectures and distribute assignments that engage students
- Grade assignments and provide feedback for improvement
- Meet with students individually to assess progress and find recent strategies for success
- Create classroom rules and uphold expectations
- Mentor students by supporting their growth and helping them pursue their post-graduation plans
- Host meetings with parents or other faculty members as needed to identify student barriers to success
- Help with after-school activities, such as supervising student-led clubs or sports
- Classroom management

- Preparing lesson plans in the assigned content area to teach required learning objectives
- Assigning and grading projects,

- Assessing students’ skills and knowledge regularly
- Creating and enforcing classroom rules, policies and procedures
- Supervising students and addressing behavior issues inside the classroom and at other times, such as lunch period
- Helping individual students who are behind or struggling to learn the content
- Collaborating with other High School Teachers to develop lesson plans and improve the learning process
- Communicating with students and parents about student progress
