JOB DESCRIPTION – DESIGN TEAM LEAD (ARCHITECTURAL / Interior Design / JOINERY)

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Design Team Lead with strong expertise in architectural design, interior design , and joinery design, preferably in the interior fit-out or construction industry. The candidate will be responsible for leading the design team, reviewing architectural and interior drawings, ensuring technical accuracy, coordinating joinery detailing, and delivering design documents within project timelines. The role also involves coordinating with project execution, estimation, procurement, and other departments, resolving design-related issues, maintaining design quality, and guiding team members to ensure efficient and accurate design delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Lead and manage the architectural, interior design, and joinery design team to ensure quality and timely completion of design deliverables.
- Review architectural drawings, interior layouts, design concepts, detailed drawings, and joinery drawings to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Develop and review space planning, interior layouts, material selections, finishes, and design details based on client requirements and project specifications.
- Prepare, review, and approve technical drawings, working drawings, shop drawings, and joinery detailing before submission or execution.
- Ensure design drawings are practical, technically feasible, and suitable for site execution, fabrication, and installation.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, estimation, procurement, and execution teams to resolve design discrepancies and technical issues.
- Review joinery drawings, furniture details, cabinetry layouts, material specifications, hardware requirements, and fabrication details.
- Identify design clashes, dimensional errors, and coordination issues before construction or manufacturing begins.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, and vendors regarding design approvals, technical clarifications, and drawing revisions.
- Monitor design schedules,



allocate tasks, and ensure drawings and design documents are submitted within project deadlines.
- Review project specifications, material requirements, and finishing details to ensure compliance with approved designs and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the estimation and procurement teams to support BOQ preparation, material selection, cost evaluation, and value engineering.
- Review design changes and assess their impact on project timelines, material requirements, fabrication, and execution.
- Ensure timely incorporation of client comments, consultant feedback, and site-related design changes.
- Maintain proper documentation of drawings, revisions, approvals, technical details, and design records.
- Establish and maintain design standards, drawing procedures, quality control practices, and documentation protocols.
- Guide, mentor, and support design team members to improve technical knowledge, productivity, and design quality.
- Monitor team performance, distribute workloads, and ensure consistency and accuracy across all design submissions.
- Coordinate with site teams to resolve execution-related design queries and provide technical support wherever required.
- Ensure the latest approved drawings are shared with the relevant departments to avoid errors, rework, and delays.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

- Strong knowledge of architectural design, interior design, and joinery detailing.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing architectural drawings, working drawings, shop drawings, and joinery drawings.
- Good understanding of interior fit-out processes, construction detailing, furniture design, and fabrication methods.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, technical specifications,



and project requirements.
- Knowledge of materials, finishes, hardware, joinery components, and installation methods.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
- Knowledge of SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, or other 3D modelling and BIM tools will be an advantage.
- Understanding of design coordination, drawing revisions, technical documentation, and quality control.
- Ability to identify design clashes, resolve technical issues, and provide practical design solutions.
- Strong team leadership, task allocation, and team management skills.
- Valuable communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a strong focus on design accuracy and execution quality.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in architectural design, interior design, or joinery design, preferably in the interior fit-out or construction industry.
- Hands-on experience in preparing, reviewing, and coordinating architectural drawings, interior working drawings, and joinery shop drawings.
- Experience in commercial interior fit-out projects, including offices, retail spaces, hospitality, or other commercial establishments.
- Proven experience in leading or supervising a design team and managing design deliverables.
- Experience coordinating with project execution, estimation, procurement, and site teams.
- Knowledge of joinery fabrication, furniture detailing, material specifications, and installation requirements.
- Experience in client coordination, design approvals, drawing revisions, and technical issue resolution.
- Strong understanding of design quality standards, project timelines, and construction requirements.
- Experience in managing multiple projects and ensuring timely delivery of design documentation will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
