About the Role

The Free Press Journal is looking for a dynamic, proactive, and news-oriented City Video Editor with a strong understanding of Mumbai’s geography, local issues, civic affairs, and city developments. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on the ground, covering breaking news, conducting field reporting, and creating engaging video content for digital and social media platforms.

Experience - 6-10 years

Key Responsibilities

- Cover city news, civic issues, local events, public concerns, and breaking news across Mumbai.
- Conduct on-ground reporting, gather video footage, record interviews, and capture relevant visuals from various locations across the city.
- Edit video stories, news packages, interviews, and short-form content for digital platforms and social media.
- Demonstrate in-depth geographical knowledge of Mumbai, including its suburbs, neighbourhoods, major roads, railway stations, civic wards, and key landmarks.
- Travel extensively across Mumbai for field reporting and on-location assignments, often at short notice.
- Identify local news opportunities and develop compelling, timely, and accurate video stories.
- Coordinate with reporters, photographers, and the editorial team to deliver content within tight deadlines.
- Ensure accuracy, editorial quality, and adherence to journalistic standards.




- Adapt video content for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and other digital channels.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- 2–5 years of relevant experience in video editing, video journalism, digital news, or field reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- In-depth geographical knowledge of Mumbai and familiarity with its localities, transport routes, and civic landscape.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent tools.
- Ability to shoot videos, conduct interviews, and report from the field.
- Solid news judgment, storytelling ability, and awareness of current affairs.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple assignments, and meet strict deadlines.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Mumbai and work flexible hours as required by news developments.
- A proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented approach to reporting and editing.
