JOB DESCRIPTION – MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT

Position: Group Medical Superintendent
Department: Medical Operations & Clinical Administration
Reporting To: Group Chairman / Managing Director
Location: All BM Health Group Centres

Job Summary

BM Health Group is seeking an experienced Group Medical Superintendent to independently manage and oversee the complete medical operations, clinical administration, doctors, nursing teams, medical consumables, and all patient-related services across its hospitals and specialty clinics.

The candidate will be the primary operational and administrative authority for all medical departments, ensuring efficient clinical functioning, patient safety, cost control, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complete Medical Operations

- Oversee day-to-day medical operations across all BM Health Group centres.
- Manage OPD, IPD, surgical, procedural, daycare, diagnostic, and treatment services.
- Ensure smooth patient movement from consultation through treatment, discharge, and follow-up.
- Coordinate medical departments and resolve clinical operational issues.

2. Doctors & Medical Team Management

- Manage consultant doctors, visiting specialists, resident doctors, nursing teams, technicians, and clinical assistants.
- Oversee doctor recruitment requirements, onboarding, duty rosters, attendance, availability, and performance.
- Coordinate consultant schedules and ensure adequate medical staffing.
- Monitor skilled conduct, clinical productivity, and departmental performance.
- Handle medical team grievances, coordination issues, and disciplinary matters in collaboration with HR.

3. Medical Administration

- Take responsibility for all medical and clinical administrative activities.
- Supervise patient records, clinical documentation, consent forms, medical reports, and statutory registers.
- Manage OT schedules, procedure room utilisation, and medical department workflow.
- Coordinate with administration, HR, accounts, purchase, and maintenance for clinical requirements.




- Ensure timely resolution of medical operational problems.

4. Medical Consumables, Inventory & Procurement

- Supervise medical consumables, disposables, surgical materials, medicines, and clinical inventory.
- Monitor departmental consumption, stock levels, expiry dates, wastage, and replenishment.
- Raise and approve medical purchase requirements within delegated authority.
- Coordinate vendors, procurement, inventory control, and stock audits.
- Standardise consumables and optimise medical expenditure without compromising patient safety.

5. Medical Equipment & Infrastructure

- Ensure all medical equipment is operational, maintained, calibrated, and available for use.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, breakdown resolution, and equipment requirements.
- Supervise clinical infrastructure readiness, including OTs, procedure rooms, emergency facilities, and treatment areas.

6. Patient Care & Clinical Governance

- Maintain standards of medical treatment, patient safety, and clinical quality.
- Manage patient complaints, medical escalations, complications, and incident reporting.
- Implement clinical SOPs, infection control measures, emergency protocols, and quality audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and professional standards.

7. Departmental Performance & Accountability

- Monitor doctor availability, patient volumes, procedure utilisation, clinical efficiency, and patient outcomes.
- Review consumable costs, inventory variance, medical resource utilisation, and operational expenditure.
- Conduct regular medical department reviews.
- Implement corrective actions and operational improvements.

8. Management Reporting





- Submit regular reports on clinical operations, doctors, staffing, consumables, medical expenditure, equipment, and patient-related issues.
- Function independently as the overall head of medical operations.
- Escalate major financial, legal, strategic, and exceptional clinical matters to Group Management.

Candidate Requirements

- Qualification: MBBS mandatory; MD/MS/DNB or postgraduate qualification in Hospital Administration preferred.
- Experience: 8–15 years, preferably in multispecialty hospital management or medical administration.
- Proven experience managing doctors, clinical departments, medical inventories, and hospital operations.
- Strong administrative, leadership, clinical coordination, and cost-management skills.

Scope of Authority

The Group Medical Superintendent will have operational authority over:

- All medical departments and clinical services
- Doctors, consultants, nurses, technicians, and clinical support staff
- Medical administration and clinical workflows
- Medical consumables, inventory, and clinical procurement requirements
- Medical equipment and clinical infrastructure
- Patient care coordination, clinical quality, and safety

Medical decisions requiring specialist judgment remain with the appropriately qualified treating clinician. Non-medical functions such as marketing, sales, general administration, and finance will remain under their respective departments.

Primary Objective: Ensure that all BM Health Group centres operate efficiently and independently in every aspect of medical services and medical-related administration, with structured accountability and direct reporting to Group Management.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
