UI/UX Designer - Job Description

Basil is a direct-to-consumer brand selling lunch boxes, bottles and everyday essentials for kids and families through yourbasil.com. We are a lean team that ships fast, tests everything, and cares about how every page feels to a parent shopping on their phone.
About the role
We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who can own the design of our Shopify storefront end to end, from research to shipped pixels. You will work closely with product, marketing and developers to improve conversion, average order value and repeat purchase. This is a hands-on role where your designs go live quickly and are measured through A/B tests.
What you will do
• Design for conversion: Design and improve key storefront journeys such as home, collection pages (PLP), product pages (PDP), cart and checkout touchpoints, with a clear focus on CRO.
• Run A/B tests: Form hypotheses, design test variants, work with the team to set up experiments, and read results to decide what ships next.
• Do user research: Run user interviews, usability tests,



heatmap and session recording reviews, and competitor audits to find friction and opportunities.
• Use data to guide design: Work with analytics (GA4, Shopify reports, heatmaps) to spot drop-offs and measure the impact of your work.
• Own end to end: Take features from problem definition to wireframes, high-fidelity designs, prototypes and developer handoff, then follow through until they are live and working as intended.
• Build the design system: Create and maintain reusable components, patterns and guidelines in Figma so the site stays consistent and rapid to build.
• Design for campaigns: Design landing pages and sale pages for launches and festive campaigns, often on tight timelines.
• Collaborate closely: Partner with product, marketing, merchandising and developers, and present your thinking clearly to stakeholders.

What we are looking for
• 2 to 3+ years of experience as a UI/UX, product or web designer.
