Mainframe QA / Migration Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Validate that all converted PCOMM automation produces results identical to Rocket macro execution through structured testing, output comparison, regression testing, and migration validation activities.

Key Responsibilities

Validation & Testing

- Develop test scenarios from existing Rocket macros.
- Execute baseline Rocket automation runs.
- Execute converted PCOMM automation runs.
- Compare outputs and business outcomes.
- Validate process timing and transaction integrity.

Regression Testing

- Create repeatable test cases.
- Execute functional testing.
- Execute integration testing.
- Perform parallel-run validation.

Migration Support

- Support cutover activities.
- Execute migration validation checklists.
- Verify rollback readiness.
- Participate in production smoke testing.

Documentation

- Create test plans.
- Generate test evidence.
- Document defects and remediation validation.
- Develop knowledge base materials.

Required Technical Skills





Mainframe Testing

- 10+ years of mainframe testing experience.
- Experience testing:
- 3270 applications
- 5250 applications
- Host-session transactions
- Batch operations

Automation Validation

Experience validating:

- Macro conversions
- Terminal emulator automation
- Migration projects
- Functional equivalence

Technical Knowledge

Understanding of:

- Rocket macros
- PCOMM automation
- EHLLAPI
- Host screen flows
- Mainframe transactions
- File transfers

Test Management

Experience with:

- Test case development
- Defect management
- UAT support
- Regression testing
- Production validation
